Is a trans person depicted predatorily?

Browse movies, tv shows, books and more where a trans person is depicted predatorily.
A common transphobic trope is the stereotype of the trans person who wants to "trap" a cisgender heterosexual person into having sex with them. This trope is most often applied to trans women characters, but for the sake of broadness this category can apply to trans men characters as well.

Buffalo Bill isn’t trans but, yes, a character who could be easily mistaken for trans and was probably trans-coded is predatory and this portrayal is harmful to trans people. (And especially to GNC people, who can overlap and also aren’t inherently predatory, seeing as the character is GNC rather than trans canonically. More on that in the Man in a Dress category, though)

@kiki10 Agreed

A trans woman is the main villain and her sleeping with Ace Ventura is portrayed as predatory. She’s also sexually assaulted and outed by the protagonist in a way that’s glamorized and portrayed as the right thing to do.

*Frank is a crossdresser/gender nonconforming. "Tr*nsvestite" was once what both crossdressers and trans people were called but the term is now deemed outdated and is often considered a slur (if not in the time and context of this film). But yes, he's sexually predatory throughout.

The only trans character is sexually predatory and it's implied she only transitioned to get ahead in sports and prey on teen girls. She also has a N*zi uniform in her room for some reason.

Ms. Garrison is depicted as sexually predatory before she transitions. While not necessarily in a sexual way, every portrayal of trans people in the show has been a depiction of them as predatory. The most notable instance was that one where a trans woman (or someone pretending to be one, it's unclear) uses her status to injure a bunch of women in sports. The other instance is in The Cissy, where Cartman pretends he's trans to use the women's bathroom.

Christopher tells a story about a Transwoman who is burned with acid and disfigured bc she tried to "trick" someone into sleeping with her. Basically the "Gay Panic" defense.

Not trans, but a man says he was born with an extra Y chromosome and was therefore born to kill.

Not necessarily sexually but the only trans character is a serial killer and thus predatory in that regard.

Very adjacent. Mrs. Doubtfire is a man pretending he’s a woman (specifically a nanny) to see his kids after losing custody. When they find out Doubtfire has a penis, it’s immediately assumed that this is a sexual predator. The same man pretends to be many other women that he thinks his kids shouldn’t be trusted with, one of them being a trans woman (the kids’ mom immediately assumes, again, that this is a predator).

It's not stated if the character is trans but a shapeshifter character with a female appearance seduces and convinces a man to have sex, only to turn into a male presenting appearance midway in order to blackmail him, playing on the "trap" trope.

Transgender woman Erica does not disclose she is trans to her partner, even after having sex with him. He is uncomfortable when this is revealed (stating that he wants his "V-Card back"), which she laughs off.

A cis man, Steve, dresses up as a woman to get into the lesbian woman’s roller derby and date them, he is not a woman however, he’s originally sort of doing it in a predatory way, Haley also sexually assaults him by pulling his pants down to show he has a penis and outs him as a man (which is true) because penis=man in dis peoples minds, but the lesbians take this as a gross violation of human rights towards a trans woman, which it would be if Steve was a trans woman. They handled combatting transphobia well on the side of the roller derby people, Steve even has a safe space to question his gender but it falls flat when roger makes jokes about Steve being required to cut his penis off to be a different gender (which isn’t true, and is framed as the whole “genital surgeries are gross”) and Steve then concludes he isn’t a woman because he doesn’t like wearing a dress which isn’t what being a woman is and plays into gender roles. There is unfortunately a stereotype of masc lesbian woman playing sports and having public orgies but idk if it’s meant to be a joke.

It’s unlikely that Snatcher is trans, given that he never objects to or shows discomfort from his underlings referring to him as male. The Madame Frou Frou persona feels more like a manipulation tactic to further anti-boxtroll propaganda.

The killer combines the "crazy person who loves killing" and "is a man who thinks he's a woman and crossdresses" tropes, and the narrative makes both of those things equal proof that the killer is evil. Narrative doubles down by making the killer's supposedly delusional fantasies of being a woman the thing that is the killer's undoing.

[MAJOR SPOILERS] “Predatory” is maybe the wrong word here but the culprit’s gender identity (trans is honestly more “the short answer” the longer answer is a bit more complicated) is something of a twist and a good part of their character arc involves dysphoria and fear of their partner(s) finding about her true nature. Plus they murder people in multiple timelines so maybe in the non-sexual sense?

The character of Jakotsu was originally planned as female but was changed to male later so InuYasha wouldn't have to kill a woman. He is still voiced by a woman and dresses in traditionally feminine clothes. He is also a predatory sadist who flirts with his male victims while torturing them.
