Yes, and it's terrible, BUT John Wick spends the rest of the movie deliberately, gloriously, and violently avenging the dog, so it feels really pro-dog overall.

As soon as Marley has trouble on the steps, turn the movie off and set fire to it in a dumpster. Happy ending!

The death is not shown on screen. The camera briefly shows the aftermath (not bloody, just a small furry stillness) but if you're not paying attention you could easily miss what it's showing you.

You'll want to skip from 36:40 to 38:13.
During this time, it's night, and M3GAN uses a voice recording of the dog's owner to lure it to the hole in the wooden fence. Once the dog gets closer to the fence, you see M3GAN's face appear at the hole (from the dog's POV) before the scene switches to show the dog, from the side, being pulled through the hole (by its collar, I assume) while it tries to resist and yelps in fright. Then, the scene changes to the next morning where you first hear and then see the dog's owner calling out it's name while walking down the street looking for him.
Honestly, I don't understand why movie directors feel the need to show pets being in any sort of danger like this. You can make a horror movie's antagonist creepy, scary, or unsettling via other ways.

Dog, his only company and constant companion, gets bitten and infected. He tries hard to save her but she turns. He basically strangle/hugs her. A friend told me it wasn't that bad cause you don't really see much, but I legit ugly cried for a long time. I had to pause the movie, and it's a really good movie. I'd say watch and ff ahead as soon as the dog is infected or just don't watch.
And never trust a friend's opinion on these matters.

The main character graphically stomps a homeless man's dog to death (somewhat from a distance, yelping is very audible). This is very upsetting and early in the film. The same character nearly shoots a cat, but does not.
(SPOILER WARNING BELOW)
It is later revealed that some events may not have actually happened, which would include the dog's death.

First off, the dog the HuskyThing had assimilated is dead but had died before the start of the movie. There were (more or less) nine dogs in the kennels when the HuskyThing arrived. Since only two dogs ran out after Clark opened the kennel, that means seven dogs were assimilated into the HuskyThing. While one dog wasn't assimilated, the poor thing *was* partially dissolved in acid (and thus, I'm assuming it died due to the extent of its injuries). One of the characters, Blair, kills the remaining dogs in the kennel after seeing the BenningsThing. Either way, lots of dogs die, this is not the movie for you if you're sensitive to dog deaths, especially to Husky deaths and brutal dog deaths.

Thanks for the warnings, I just switched it off! My heart sank when I saw the little doggy and I knew I probably wasn't going to continue with it. Why do they have to include animals??

Technically it depends. Tame wolves, which are sort of dogs, *can* die, but there are ways the player can prevent them from dying.

Skip from 26:50 to 32:10 and 43:30 to 49:20. Not only the shooting but before that the older men talk about how to do it. You have to hear animals suffering (they didn't play noise with the cow in the first scene). And it just gets worse and worse. Even muted it was tough.
