a character is continuously raped in the first three episodes by their spouse. This happens from 20:57-22:20 in episode one, 30:10-30:35 in episode 2, 18:45-19:30 and 42:05-42:50 in eoisode 3. they discuss how exhausted they are by it after every encounter. in episode 5, in 1:12:00-1:12:20, the character gets reminded of the experience. there is also mention of a woman with an abusive husband in the past who abused her and her son. she does not go into details but simply mentions she and her son had bruises because of him.

there's a clip where a painter is drawing the royal family. when the royal family leaves, he's basically gaslit and told "they're still there, keep drawing". it's played off as a joke and can easily be skipped, it's not really an important scene.

there is mention of child abuse in one of the later episodes, but it's not shown on screen. the mother describes some of the child's injuries and states they were inflicted by a parent.
there is also mention of neglectful parents whose children feel like they "don't know them", but the kids are not abused by them.

The torture scenes start in episode 4 and are then shown again in episode 5. A so called doctor is supposedly helping the king deal with his 'madness'. There is use of leeches, torture using ice water baths and other forms of torture. Not all are shown in detail but when not shown you still hear the character screaming out in agony and crying for help.

In the first 10 or so minutes there is a sex scene between a young women (maybe 25 years old) and her elderly husband where the young women is laying flat on the bed like a dead fish and clearly “waiting for it to be over” while the elderly husband is on top of her having a very … animated… climax. It seemed like the show was trying to make it out as “funny” but I found it extremely uncomfortable and unnerving to watch. It was clearly unconsentual.

There is some hate speech, but nowhere is the integration represented as "white people" being "nice." The credit (in this series) largely goes to Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury for forcing change.
I just love when people who think they're "woke" try to champion *cough*patronize*cough* others by vastly misinterpreting something so they can call the writers racist and sound all righteous themselves.

lady danbury has an older husband. introduced in sex scene E1. there are many sex scenes with them throughout the show. pretty much whenever it shows a shot of their house it is about to cut to a sex scene of them. I should also mention this is less 'sex' than it is assault - she clearly hates it, talks about enduring it and has a point on the ceiling she stares at, and later has flashbacks to it.
