After reluctantly moving to the German Alps with her father and his new family, Gretchen discovers that their new town hides sinister secrets, as she's plagued by strange noises and frightening visions of a woman pursuing her.
This movie contains 42 potentially triggering events.
it’s not traditional physical abuse, but many characters aren’t treated that well. the main character is more neglected than abused, and her sister isn’t so much explicitly abused than exploited.
Characters’s jaws move in unsettling ways when screaming - they almost look dislocated. Also many close ups of a heart beating absurdly fast in a woman’s chest.
a character gets injured, and another character presumed to be mute has a non-disability related reason for not speaking. she has use of her vocal cords, just not for human speech. I don’t know if mila lieu is a speaking actress because she’s young.
There are multiple jumpscares throughout from the main “monster” - most of the time, she is wearing a headscarf and sunglasses, but toward the end, we get jump scares with her face not covered which may be scary for people.
there are three instances of this within the first 15 minutes and it happens intermittently throughout the movie/it’s part of a major plot point, so i would honestly avoid this one if this is a trigger for you
No one self harms, but Gretchen gets a big cut on her forehead and they do close ups which might be triggering to others as well. The wound is caused by her falling, and is not self inflicted in any way
If you are sensitive to loud noises, I would recommend to wait and watch this movie at home. There is an incredibly loud, high pitched ringing sound that plays multiple times throughout the movie, which hurt to hear for so long. There is also multiple occurrences of screaming/yelling.
