there is a clip where a character injects something into his shoulder, which appears to be a reference to a drug he takes in the comics. its never really brought up or discussed beyond that and doesnt make another appearance
No, not technically. A character does briefly become a lizard monster but dies in his human form, but this is not a vital part of the movie and the scene doesn't last long.
First comment isn't helpful. If you have arachnophobia this movie might be harder to get through than the first one. Most character introduction scenes will feature a spider. If you think a character is gonna mention their "spider bite", look away and have someone tell you when the scene is over. A mechanical spider in the movie can be kind of difficult to watch. You'll see a character who says that she's an avatar. In the room behind her will be a large mechnical spider. This is the first scene it is in, but the second scene it is in can be harder to watch. Hope this helps. Trying not to spoil anything.
Gwen/Spidergirl shoots webs at two cops, restraining them both against a car, and one has his mouth covered with webs though he isnt suffocating. At the end, Miles is tied to a punching bag with chains.
There is a brief moment of a character having a panic attack where they seem to struggle to breathe. [SPOILERS] After the Spot shows Miles the future (a police captain dying), Miles is shown hyperventilating.
Spot is a little more cryptic and grotesque in this iteration, showing no facial features and further in the movie is shown being sucked into the collider.
Yes, in the story there is a character who's children have died, a child does die onscreen but it is entirely non-graphic and she mostly just glitches out of existence?
It shows a montage of people close to spiderman dying; Uncle Ben, Gwen, ect Miguel kid, in different scenarios. Peter parker dies in Gwen world.
Multiple people probably dies offscreen when the building collapses
A montage of relatives close to spiderman is shown of them dying; uncle Ben, a kid ect. Every spiderman in the spiderverse loses a relative as a sacrifice
As someone with trypophobia, Spot didn't bother me. The holes aren't really cluster-like, so it was only very slightly unnerving. Depends how sensitive you are!
Nobody v*. I had a mini heart attack when a cat-spiderman version shot spiderweb out of it's mouth though. Reminded me of a hairball (those trigger me for some reason).
Some have read it as being copaganda, I think it doesn’t do enough to go against cops but has some good stuff too. (Spoilers) but a cop realizes he can’t be a good person and be a cop so he quits. There’s also a main character anarchist depicted in a good light. So idk. Should still do more tho, agreed. Didn’t like the ‘good cop’ line, and tho I love Mile’s dad the fact that him being a cop isn’t brought into question yknow is bleh.
No, in fact Gwen has a "Protect Trans Kids" poster in her room. It's briefly shown that her father also has a trans flag pin on his uniform at one point. Both subtle and quick appearances.
Some might find the scenes between Gwen and her father similar to coming out struggles. In the movie, it's a struggle about her balancing her identity as Gwen and Spiderwoman, but obviously people can read/see it as an allegory.
A character uses a serum on themselves with a device that is implied to be a sort of an automated syringe. [SPOILER] Miguel loads up a syringe-gun and uses it on himself.
There isn't a mental institution, however there is a scene where two iterations of Spiderman are having a therapy session that gets interrupted by people crashing through a wall.
Practically most of the movie there are “glitches” which makes the camera look shaky. This happens throughout the whole movie, not just a specific part.
No, but there's a brief scene where a weeping spiderman is talking to his therapist-spiderman about experiencing the recent death of his Uncle Ben. The joke is more about both the audience and therapist-spiderman already knowing why that spiderman's there: Uncle Ben's death.
