Pregnant out of wedlock, an educated young woman is pressured by her father into an arranged marriage with a lonely farmer in this drama set during WWII.
This movie was based in the 1940s. The farmer who has the dog never allowed animals in the house when he discovers the dog in the house he yells at it and throws it out of the house. That was extremely hard to watch.
In the beginning, the woman in the arranged marriage secretly sends letters to the father of her baby without her husband knowing. We never know what she writes, but it could be considered cheating by some.
Many of the characters are very Christian, there is mention of God, singing in church, and other mentions of Christian values. All these characters exude goodness and don’t do anything judgmental on account of their religion.
Some old pieces of furniture and other items which someone considers to be historical artifacts are destroyed when someone accidentally thinks they are junk.
A dog is locked in an shed overnight to avoid interaction with a new family member. Persistent barking & whining can be heard. The dog is later screamed at and thrown out of the house into the cold. The dog doesn’t get injured.
