No living dogs appear, or die, onscreen; however, a character talks about Moretti having his dog stuffed after he died, and we later see what is presumably the same stuffed dog when Ariel runs into Moretti’s childhood home
The characters eat lobster at their first dinner. There is a close-up shot of a lobster being placed on the table, right after Ariel takes a bite from the bread roll being passed around.
Around an hour into the film, after Ariel escapes her room and runs and hides around the compound, she finds and opens a barn which contains dead animals. There are a few quick shots of stuffed deer and goat heads mounted on the walls and a shot of what looks like a mouse in a jar, but other than that, and some shots of animal fur, it’s not very graphic or obvious.
No one is explicitly SAed but it is worth noting there are some scenes that are “minor” SA that are very uncomfortable.
SPOILERS:
There is a part where a character is asked if she has shaved her “hoo ha” etc (dialogue used in the film) and then proceeds to shave her, herself. this is not shown explicitly but is implied and is uncomfortable. There is another scene later in the film (about half way) when there is a music video-like scene where the music artist character simulates sexual things with many of the characters including sexually choking a character. all but one character is into it but this is non consensual.
A person on the compound is seen cutting open oysters, and at one point he accidentally stabs the knife into his hand. Other people on the compound have the same scars on their hands.
There’s two jump scares that I could see - one is when Ariel and Stan are talking in the garden and he is shot by an arrow, the other is when Ariel is in a bathtub and grabbed from behind
Religion is a major theme, comparing the religion of the cult to others. It is not metaphorical for or especially critical of any specific cult or religion though
