Jimmy Erskine is the most feared theatre critic of the age. He lives as flamboyantly as he writes and takes pleasure in savagely taking down any actor who fails to meet his standards. When the owner of the Daily Chronicle newspaper dies, and his son David Brooke takes over, Jimmy quickly finds himself at odds with his new boss and his position under threat. In an attempt to preserve the power and influence he holds so sacred, Jimmy strikes a Faustian pact with struggling actress Nina Land, entangling them and Brooke in a thrilling but deadly web of desire, blackmail, and betrayal.

David shoots himself offscreen
He is also called weak at his memorial by whom I can only assume is his wife or mother or something, couldn't tell you
Jimmy and his lover(?) seem to be quite a fair amount apart in age, but it's never depicted weirdly. I'm iffy on if they're even lovers and more just fwb but the age gap remains nonetheless
Queer is used as a slur, and not exactly hate speech but actions as the main character is a gay man back when it was illegal and in an interrogation scene he asks if the cops interrogating him (one of which has a pin identical to the bands worn by obvious nazis) if they think his lover is not intelligent because of the color of his skin (he is black)
Screw what my original comment said! I am 90% sure Nina was assaulted by David after being pressured into sleeping with him by Jimmy (under promise he would make her a star and threatening to ruin that if she didn't), then again, I don't trust Jimmy to tell the entire truth and he's clearly using it for blackmail reasons, but Nina clearly didn't want to do it and even if she lied about consenting, still not consensual
In the movie itself, no, but if you so choose to watch this movie in a !!VERY LEGAL AND LAW ABIDING WAY!! You may get a version that contains people unwrapping snacks or snoring
