SPOILER: Yes, and Elizabeth Banks’s character is ultimately to blame for forgetting that Atticus (her friend’s dog that she agreed to care for) was in the apartment when she let off bombs to kill wasps in the apartment. It was a mistake because he was an old and quiet dog, but is devastating. A vet ultimately puts the dog down immediately. There is some indication in her apartment that the dog struggled because she is showned vacuuming what looks like some sick and paw marks. VERY sad.
A surgeon, taking care of a friend's dog sets off flea bombs in her home and goes to stay in a hotel forgetting she had the dog in her home. When reminded, after seeing someone walking his dog, she races home and takes the dog to the veterinarian who euthanizes the dog. The dog is only seen laying on the examination table. There is no distress shown by the dog at all. It is still sad.
