15-year-old deep-thinking Welsh schoolboy, Oliver Tate struggles to initiate and maintain a relationship with Jordana, his devilish, dark-haired classmate at their Swansea high school. As his parents' marriage begins to fall apart, similar problems arise in his relationship with Jordana.
This movie contains 25 potentially triggering events.
it’s mentioned that a background character was stabbed by two students with compasses, his bloodied shirt is seen but even so the blood is fairly minimal
The main character is heard narrating throughout the film, musing on how his life would be like as a movie, and occasionally makes eye contact with the camera, but the 4th wall is never fully broken.
the protagonist’s mother thinks he suffers from chronic delusions, and he knowingly feeds into the mother’s anxieties. i would say it’s unclear whether anyone in the film is mentally ill, but it is never explicitly mentioned
Kids are seen getting bullied and picked on throughout the film, including the protagonist, but there doesn't seem to be any long-term abuse happening at home for any character.
Oliver explains his plan to poison the dog and burns the remains of the dog with Jordana. he doesn’t actually poison the dog and we only see the barrel burning, not the actual dog, but could be distressing.
I don't know why there are five "no" votes for this.
It happens without warning but it's over quick. About 50 minutes in, Oliver stands up and says he's going out. Once he walks down the steps and stands in front of Graham's van, it happens suddenly but is over quick. There is visual and audio but if you skip about fifteen seconds once he is walking down the steps, you'll be fine.
