A dead and slightly decaying baby is shown on the camera. Dead at least a couple of days to a week. It was graphic and the camera pans across her at least twice. She's shown in the same state later crawling across the ceiling during a withdrawal hallucination
Not a jumpscare per se, but still: the protagonists withdrawal-induced hallucinations make him see a baby crawling on the ceiling whose head spins around Exorcism-style before it suddenly drops onto the camera.
I honestly don't remember any vomit in this movie, and I'm a huge emetophobe. There is a scene where he is leaning over the toilet and falls in (it's a hallucination and he just swims around for a bit.) But I don't remember any v. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
Mark Renton has an on-screen poop in 'The Worst Toilet in Scotland'. You see him from the front, and there is graphic sound. He then fishes around in the toilet bowl sludge, having dropped something down, before falling in. The entire bathroom is also incredibly grim, as expected.
There is also a later scene where Spud soils the bed at a girls house. The soiled sheets are shown, but the actual event is not.
Not particularly, however Begbie does describe meeting a trans woman at a club and being shocked and disgusted when he realises she is trans. No more comment is made after this.
Three scenes in which the main character hallucinates due to heroin withdrawal or overdose. The first occurs when he has to put his hands in a filthy toilet and imagines diving into it and swimming in the ocean. The second when he hallucinates descending into a grave - much of the following sequence is shown from his point of view with the edges of the hole bordering the screen. And the third after he is locked into his bedroom by his parents - this is a long scene in which the dimensions of the room warp and he hallucinates a baby crawling across the ceiling and falling onto him, and visits from his friends which could be real. This is the most difficult to tell from reality.
No. However (SPOILERS) an infant dies from neglect and shown looking very much dead. Might be upsetting for someone who has gone through a stillbirth or late miscarriage to see this.
Baby frequently seen throughout the film, both alive and dead. The main character hallucinates the dead baby crawling on the ceiling in the throes of heroin withdrawal.
There is a scene where a cis male character (Begbie) meets a trans woman at a club and they are later making out in the back of a car, at one point when Begbie reaches up her skirt he feels her genitals and quickly withdraws and acts horrified/disgusted, but no further violence is depicted or implied
A man has a relationship with an underage girl although he isn’t aware of it when they first meet and is presented as an “oh f***” moment when he learns the truth but it’s still a huge plot point
No incest but there is a sexual relationship that is implied to be pedophilic (the older partner is in his early 20s, the younger partner is around 14-15). Not that this is an excuse, but the sexual aspect of the relationship is initiated by the younger partner and while the older partner expresses hesitance/discomfort when he finds out her age, she insists on having it continue and threatens to blackmail him.
