You are forewarned that the dog Lynx is going to die, but the actual death is sudden and graphic. A young bull is killed at the same time in the same way. Earlier in the movie, the woman must hunt for food and she shoots a deer. It doesn’t immediately die, though, and the dying process is unpleasantly graphic. Another time, the woman finds her pet cat dead in the woods.
