A solitary cat, displaced by a great flood, finds refuge on a boat with various species and must navigate the challenges of adapting to a transformed world together.
This movie contains 31 potentially triggering events.
I personally think both deaths are less ambiguous and found it upsetting. The bird is injured and seems depressed when it ‘ascends’ and is never seen again. We were confused at first, but the cat seemed to grieve the bird.
Second, the whale. I don’t think this is ambiguous at all. The cat even wants to save him and he’s beached. I found it very upsetting, especially since animal peril is such a huge theme.
I mean, this should be a post-apocalyptic scenario, so I don't know if we can consider them to be abandoned. Maybe they were just born in a world without humans? Anyway it's not to be taken for granted.
I would say yes - the crew from the boat decide to take the bad dogs (that were chasing the cat) with them. The dogs are still bad though and end up breaking the monkey's precious item.
There is a really triggering scene for any survivors out there:
The bird is assaulted by her flock. The leader crushes her head into the ground with his claws. The bird tries to free itself but is unable to, we see its suffering and helplessness. The rest of the tribe stands on its wings and breaks them. The scene is heartbreaking.
only fish clearly die, and it is not violent. a bird rises and disappears in a rapture-like scenario that is left to interpretation. a whale is shown dying after being beached, but is alive and safe in a post-credits scene. most animals shows in peril, even for a second, are shown alive and well later.
Dogs fighting outside of human intervention is not "dog fighting" as normally thought of with this term which usually means humans intentionally forcing and raising dogs to fight.
The entire movie is a huge bummer. The animals are all constantly sad and I was anxious the whole time. If you are very sensitive to animals being sad skip this movie.
at one point the cat nearly drowns, losing consciousness and sinking until it is saved. later the cat falls from the top of the boat and briefly loses consciousness. both times the cat recovers.
No, but there is a scene where the dogs and capybara are in the boat that got stuck in a tree that is hanging over a cliff/deep cavern. The animals desperately try to rescue them before the tree collapses and the boat falls into the abyss. All the animals are rescued safely.
The lemur has a basket of trinkets that are precious. The dogs break his mirror and he's really sad about it. But he's seen later with a different/mended mirror and he's happy again
As someone with SEVERE emetophobia... this was not bad at all just very very random xD ... there is sound and visual... but let me tell u the "hairball" or whatever it is ... looks more like a cube or a marble and doesn't look gross or anything. The sounds ain't that bad either just the sound of a cat being sick but not bad ❤️ hope this helps!
No, but there is a surprise dream sequence & a very out of nowhere & never explained magic/spiritual scene where the characters involved float around in a galaxy-like tunnel with a golden light at the end.
There is a scene where all the animals start getting on each other’s nerves and fighting over the lemur’s items in the boat, as well as the stork throwing the lemur’s ball into the water and the lemur is upset about it, if you can consider that a meltdown
The only characters are animals (cat, dogs, capybara, Secretary birds, Ring-tailed lemurs, whale), so they're all incapable of making obscene gestures.
Additionally, no words are spoken throughout the entire movie; only animal, nature, & object sound effects.
During pivotal scene there is some magical swirling imagery with a mild flashing effect. Also a couple of underwater sequences with some strobe-like camera movement.
The only characters are animals (cat, dogs, capybara, Secretary birds, Ring-tailed lemurs, whale), so there's no humans that could possibly be depicted dying.
No, but due to the *strictly* visual storytelling, one might draw comparisons to the Genesis Flood, the Rapture, & the idea of heaven from Christianity with the events of the story.
No debate due to this being a silent film, but some may have thoughts on it when seeing this beautiful but dangerous and melancholy post apocalyptic world.
Second, the whale. I don’t think this is ambiguous at all. The cat even wants to save him and he’s beached. I found it very upsetting, especially since animal peril is such a huge theme.
