Two side characters - Angela and Eddie - are shown to be portrayed as violent, albeit with different contexts.
Eddie displays homicidal behaviour and describes killing a dog and enjoying it, and killing people because they "looked at [him] wrong".
Angela is not actively violent towards anyone - at most, she comes off as threatening and manipulative towards the end of the game. However, she is shown to be violent towards a boss enemy - kicking it and throwing a TV on it. In saying that, the boss is the manifestation of her trauma (see warnings for "Is there sexual abuse?")
Out of the two characters, Eddie is the main one that fits this question.
Eddie, one of the side characters, is implied to have body dysmorphia. There is no direct mentions of this, but some may relate to the symptoms he exhibits.
The protagonist drives his car into the water to take his own life in two of the endings. It is not shown on-screen, but the sound can be heard after a cut to black.
Addiction is not explicitly mentioned or shown, but the protagonist is heavily implied to have struggled with alcoholism in the past, and at one point is shown visibly struggling to say no when offered a drink.
Not explicitly hell, but many enemies are arguably demonic in nature, and Silent Hill essentially creates a personalized hell for those pulled into it.
Angela very clearly suffers from PTSD due to being sexually abused by her father and brother when she was young. She is afraid of people suddenly approaching her and is implied to be having a flashback during a boss fight in which she pleads with her father (who is not in the room) to not harm her
The main character will be put into rooms with enemies who will stalk him in an attempt to hurt/kill him. There are also boss/mini-boss battles that involve a large figure with a giant knife stalking after the main character. This happens at least twice in the game.
the other commenter didn't go into any detail. There is large cockroaches as enemies, they aren't human sized but do crawl on walls or floors. they are present for most of the game but can be ignored. many ambient cockroaches crawling around and moths are flying around and used as a weapon.
not fully. but a monster near the end of the game is a representation of it. angela (girl you meet at the cementary) is a survivor. she also somewhat mentions it after said boss fight. personally it isnt too graphic, but for people with a trigger that invovles SA its a bit hard to swallow. you can skip the scene, but sadly not the boss fight
kind of. abstract dad/abstract daddy is a manifestation of the abuse angela suffered. she is a survivor, and nothing happens to her on screen, this may be intensive for some. so id tread carefully.
(spoiler) also there is some kinda odd moments between maria and james. but nothing bad. i have a trigger for rape/sa and this didn't bother me.
Throughout the game the main character can kick or step on enemies to finish them off. This could be interpreted as the body or head being squashed, though nothing explicitly shows it and it more accurately appears to just be a kick.
Angela is a CSA survivor, but this is only part of her backstory, and she is only shown in-game at the age of 19. The only actual child character encountered in the game is not sexualized.
A lake is a central feature of the town, appearing in multiple scenes. The park where an important cutscene occurs is next to it with a good view of it. Additionally, a sequence has you row a boat across the lake.
When you first encounter Eddie in the apartments, he is seen vomiting in a cutscene.
Vomit is not shown, but there are very detailed and realistic noises - even nauseating to those without emetophobia - and he is hunched over a toilet.
The bathroom is very grimy, so this adds to the air of disgust.
Additionally, there are enemies who can spit acid at you.
Angela ends up seemingly committing it after walking up a staircase engulfed in flames
In one ending James can also commit suicide, and it's implied his original reason for coming to the town was to do so
Silent Hill warps reality to bring a person's fears, guilt and trauma into physical form. It is heavily implied that what each character is seeing is their own personalized horror, except for in the case of one character, who is implied to just see an ordinary town.
not willingly. but there is none in the game, just the backstory to angela involves a unconsensual relationship between her and her father. she is a survivor.
pretty minor for the most part. but this franchise is known for its sexual themes, although it isn't done crudely. still if you have issues with topics of sex, rape or minor suggestive moments, i'd tread carefully.
