This tv show contains 53 potentially triggering events.
S5 Ep 6. A family dog is held by a member of the Romanov family as they are executed by firing squad. I couldn’t see the dog actually being killed or its body after, but the dog’s death is implied.
The relationship between Princess Margaret and Tony is pretty toxic. They fight a lot, he cheats on her but she says that this is the way they both like their relationship to be and show love.
45:59-46:14 J.F. Kennedy shouts at his wife Jackie, throws things across their room, for example her glass, which he ripped out of her hand. After that he aggressively takes her into his arms and touches her with sexual intention. You should skip when Jackie is at the private audience with the queen and starts talking about their trip to Paris
Almost everything Charles does and says to Diana in the second half of season four. She is specifically quoted "He's telling everyone I'm mad and I feel like I'm going mad."
Season 4 episode 2 a stag is seriously wounded in the opening scene. They show it wounded, again before the opening credits & randomly throughout the episode until they show it being killed.
Also Numerous dead pheasants in season 4 episode 10, beginning around 40 minutes, including a really grotesque shot/sound that I wish I had known to skip past.
The episode opens with the murder of the Romanov royal family in 1918. One of the family dogs is shown just before the execution and is heavily implied to have been killed (as in real life).
S1E6, around 10:10: A man shows a slideshow of Egypt, the shot of the first dancer is quickly followed by another shot of a woman dancing with several snakes around her neck. The man is reporting on the political situation in Egypt and the pictures of the female dancers are supposed to bring some comic relief to the male audience. Easily skippable.
46:12-47:04 Jackie Kennedy talks about her and her husband J.F. Kennedy being drugged by their doctor to improve their social performance at public events and to calm them down. In flashbacks you see the doctor injecting the substances. After that Jackie talks about being not herself at a party and you see her being affected by the drugs
Kind of, nothing untoward is ever depicted or suggested in this regard. However, we are shown that at the start of Charles and Diana's relationship (which began just after her 18th birthday) there was a fourteen year age gap. As well as an imbalance of life experience and power dynamic which at least hint that he was taking advantage of her.
A character is hospitalized due to a smoking-related illness. They are shown attached to a ventilator, accompanied by some very unpleasant sound effects. S4E7
Not burning exactly but when Margaret suffers from a stroke in the bath/shower she is accidentally very badly scalded with the hot water to the point when she can no longer walk and has to use a wheelchair
(SPOILER) This happens a lot: In season 1, Prince Phillip is shown almost cheating with a reporter, but it doesn't happen at the end. It is clear that he cheated sometimes but it's not shown. In season 3, Princess Margaret's husband cheat on her multiple times, including an entire episode when he leaves with her mistress. The princess algo cheats, mainly because of despair. In season 4, Prince Charles cheats with Camilla multiple times.
Ep 1 - Safe! Ep 2 - Safe! (There is a mention in passing of bulimia, but no v*) Ep 3 - Safe! (Sydney has a wheezing cough in a few instances, but no v* and did not find this triggering) Ep 4 - Safe! Ep 5 - Safe! Ep 6 - Safe! (This has a few mins of gun violence within the first 5,10 mins but no v* but a good pointer as you think someone looks like they may but don’t) Ep 7 - Safe! (After Diana swerves in her car, she pulls up and starts gasping really heavily, sounds a little like a g*g, but nothing happens) Ep 8 - Safe! Ep 9 - Safe! Ep 10 - Safe!
Season 6 IS SAFE
Ep 1 - SAFE Ep 2 - SAFE Ep 3 - SAFE Ep 4 - SAFE PART 2 Ep 5 - SAFE Ep 6 - SAFE Ep 7 - SAFE (a couple of drinking / hangover scenes but totally safe) Ep 8 - SAFE Ep 9 - SAFE Ep 10 - SAFE
Needles are shown going into skin during Diana's acupuncture session, during her opening monologue just before the opening credits. There is no warning.
There are a few cases of mental illness, for example Diana and Princess Margaret suffer from depression. Diana also has an eating disorder. I don't now any more direct examples at this moment, sorry :/ But I think you can find them if you look after specific mental illnesses
There are many stressful situations for the characters- the prime ministers/members of parliament and Princess Margaret reach a point of high emotion(in separate times) in the second season
With season 5 coming up, I'd expect even more camera flashes. Diana was the most photographed woman at the time. The paparazzi took many photos of her in real life so in season 5, I'd expect to see many camera flashes in the show as well.
No but Philip does complain that their "daughter is a boy and their son a girl" because the children have personalities contrary to gender norms of the time.
In season 1, Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson would refer to the Queen Mum as “Cookie” (because to them she looked like a fat Scottish cook who eats too many sweets) behind her back.
A Saudi Arabian man voices contempt for the British due to colonialism and Egyptians for perceived complicity. Later, a Black man is ousted from a hotel event for his race; several microaggression comments follow.
Unless you consider distant cousins getting married to be incestuous, there is no incest in the show. And even that isn’t really directly discussed and is fairly normal for royal marriages.
In S1E1, about halfway through, there are multiple scenes with an operation happening that show a lot of blood and extreme gore (a shot of inside the chest cavity). Close your eyes right after they say "There's been a call from England" at the party, and open when you hear the car motor. Close them again when the grandma says "It's been two hours," and open again when you hear "I'm happy to say the procedure went well." Close them one more time when Prince Philip goes into the room to see his father, and open when you hear the radio voice. The sound is not very graphic, it's very quiet and mild. There's also a part in the same episode around 36:43 (that entire scene) where the grandpa is holding a bloody handkerchief while talking to the doctor for a few seconds.
