3 Idiots
Movie • 2009 • Comedy
ReportIn the tradition of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” comes this refreshing comedy about a rebellious prankster with a crafty mind and a heart of gold. Rascal. Joker. Dreamer. Genius... You've never met a college student quite like "Rancho." From the moment he arrives at India's most prestigious university, Rancho's outlandish schemes turn the campus upside down—along with the lives of his two newfound best friends. Together, they make life miserable for "Virus," the school’s uptight and heartless dean. But when Rancho catches the eye of the dean's sexy daughter, Virus sets his sights on flunking out the "3 idiots" once and for all.

Several borderline instances of abuse occurs. One is a conversation about how a very strict disciplinarian's son killed himself because of the fathers constant, callous criticism. Aldditionally, one of the main characters describes and is shown being belittled for his honest interest, and guilted/blamed for the things the family doesn't have or gave up for the character. This is resolved shortly, but is implied to be a very common, normal part of the family dynamic.

There are multiple scenes in the film that show someone drinking, drunk, or wanting to drink. There's a couple of mentions as well about mild instances, such as a university student bemoaning about how he constantly spends all of his money on drinks and often has nothing left for basic necessities.

It's important to note that the reveal of the hanging is VERY SUDDEN and comes unexpectedly after an upbeat musical number.

Trigger warning: it shows them just after they've been injured and before they receive treatment, in the hospital with casts, and out of the hospital also with casts.

Character is tied up and gagged while disagreeing with characters about destination. It's played for comedy, so the character recovers quickly.

No one is shown cheating on their romantic partner, but there is a scene revolving around several characters getting incredibly drunk and deciding to break into the headmaster's office to steal the answers for the final exam.

More than one scene, including a large portion of one musical/dance number, takes place in a dorm-style communal bathroom/shower. Several shots involve a running shower-head, soap-covered upper bodies, being sprayed by a fire hose, and sitting on toilets with their pants around their ankles.
No nudity is shown, as the group always has towels around their waists.

One scene, a character's palsied father suffers an emergency and is taken to a hospital. Doctors are seen and spoken to.
A significant portion of one of the titular idiots is shown grievously injured, in a hospital bed, and unresponsive/comatose when friends and family come to visit him.

It's not directly said, but one of the major points of the story is that a character is incredibly gifted in understanding engineering and innovative inventing, but is frequently mocked or chastised by students and teachers alike. In almost every instance, it involves the way he looks at things uniquely, criticizes a flawed system that does measurable psychological harm to the students who don't fit the mold, interacts with others with blunt observation, expresses mild confusion over complicated but unspoken social rules that he sees as serving no purpose

A side character goes into labor during a power outage and heavy rains that prevent getting to a hospital. The main characters and others attempt to assist, being directed how by a doctor over the phone. Both the mother and baby are shown in severe medical distress, and aspects of that as well as the process of trying to solve a potentially fatal hazard to both is talked about and explained in significant detail. When the child is finally delivered, it is treated as stillborn before eventually responding.
