The Producers
Movie • 1967 • Comedy
ReportBroadway producer, Max Bialystock and his accountant, Leo Bloom plan to make money by charming little old ladies to invest in a production many times over what it will actually cost, and then put on a sure-fire flop, so nobody will ask for their money back – and what can be a more certain flop than a tasteless musical celebrating Hitler.

One of the little old ladies that Bialystock has sex with for money discusses wanting to play a sex game called, "The Abduction and the Cruel Rape of Lucretia," saying, "I'll be Lucretia," to which Bialystock replies, "And I'll be Rape."

Gene Wilder's character is very nervous and there are several scenes where he has anxiety attacks. It's played for laughs but could be quite stressful to watch, lots of shouting and being shouted at by other characters.

When the main characters visit the potential director for their play they go into an elevator with the director's boyfriend that is very, very tight quarters. It's played for a gag but they are quite uncomfortable.

Two characters are (implied) gay men and their portrayal is extremely stereotypical and ridiculous - about what you'd expect for a 1967 film. The main characters react to them with exaggerated horror and disgust. I don't think any slurs are used, but it's almost as bad.

The main characters produce a play (intended to be a flop) about Hitler written by an actual Nazi who reveres Hitler. There is a lot of Nazi imagery such as a dance sequence with performers in Nazi uniforms. The film is clearly mocking Nazis and it's implied that these views are abhorrent, but it could certainly be hard to watch for some.

Many gay stereotypes are used, this is also a n**i character. Later in the movie a whole musical about Hitler is shown. Keep in mind, all of this is satire.
