Investigative journalist Eddie Brock attempts a comeback following a scandal, but accidentally becomes the host of Venom, a violent, super powerful alien symbiote. Soon, he must rely on his newfound powers to protect the world from a shadowy organization looking for a symbiote of their own.
This movie contains 58 potentially triggering events.
Maybe? Eddie was eating live lobsters at a fancy restaurant, causing an outrage. Next thing you know, he wakes up at the hospital in an MRI. He either passed out, or had to be knocked out.
Bones are broken, and wounds are magically healed on screen. The noises are bad. Eddie’s body morphs into venom, but it isn’t something bad like Tusk or Human Centipede
Eddie blacks out and wakes up in an MEI, also blacks out and wakes up in Carlton Drake’s torture chamber. Hosts black out when the symbiote is exiting their body.
One of the patients gets a venom thing in them and breaks all of his bones it's all inside of the body as well as in the beginning part of the movie a simbiote goes inside a lady after a car crash and she has a broken shin and you can see it sticking out
Despite all the yes's here I don't recall any damage to anyone's teeth being shown, and it is something I have an issue with so I'd probably remember. There were a ton of fight scenes and some people prooobably got hit in the mouth is isn't specifically shown at least not graphically.
In the end credits bonus scene a character has scratched at his walls and written in blood, you don't see the mutilated finger, just the motion of him writing with it.
There is human experimentation, some of the subjects die in a gruesome way. Some of them are tortured with high frequency sounds which hurts the symbiotes and (presumably) the hosts too.
At one point Venom tells Eddie he's hungry by blurting out the word "Hungry!" And he scares the neighbor, but it's not as bad as the original commenter makes it sound.
It's especially awful with the first human trial with the symbiote. He literally screams and sounds like he is in extreme pain until he dies. It sounds like his bones are breaking clearly. There was also heavy manipulation from the CEO directing the experiment (comparing the homeless person to a child sacrifice in the bible).
No, but there’s a scene where a woman bonded with a symbiotic enters a women's bathroom in a way that’s portrayed as “creepy”. The symbiotes are portrayed as somewhat genderfluid depending on their host.
Eddie is taken to a hospital and given an MRI scan, which causes him to react extremely negatively due to the symbiote's weakness to certain frequencies of sound.
The symbiosis and the way it's portrayed can be very similar to dissociation and derealization. It's not an actual depiction, but it's similar enough that it could trigger it!
Some might assume that Eddie was going to kill himself, because he was depressed and holding the engagement ring of his previous girlfriend while on the bridge. I don't believe his intention was suicide.
Chewing noises after venom attaches to Eddie in his apartment and in the restaurant. Eddie eats rancid chicken. Crunching/chewing noises at the Malaysian market when the woman/symbiote eats an eel. The yellow symbiote is very trypophobia inducing as well if that upsets you.
People who are being taken over have an extreme panic attack for a second before they die. Eddie also has a mental breakdown after the symbiote merges with him and he's at his apartment
There is a scene that takes place inside an MRI machine, which is a fairly tight space. During the scene, a jump scare occurs which could trigger some claustrophobic reactions.
while it's under different circumstances than a typical eating disorder, and character does binge and purge and suffers from a very disordered appetite. There is also a great deal of food waste and unsanitary consumption.
You could argue that Venom is constantly in Eddie’s head. At the start of the movie, he wouldn’t know this. When Venom first talks, he says “don’t open the door” right before Eddie’s door is knocked on. He looks outside and nobody is there, but it was a trap to get him to let his guard down. Carlton’s men storm the apartment.
“Crazy”, “insane”, “nuts” are all used. Stigma of god complexes (god complex=villian), Eddies partner calls him egotistical and self absorbed. Eddie hears voices and is treated like he is “insane” for a little while
Eddie says “I could be a woman, you seen tootsie?”. Venom attaches to a woman host and has a more slim, sexy appearance including breasts which is super weird
There isn't a lot of blood. There is definitely some gore. In the beginning after the ambulance crash you see a bone sticking out of a lady's leg briefly
