There is a dog on the train that belongs to the older couple, Jenny and Ged. Yet, for reasons unknown, the dog disappears and is never mentioned again after the first time it is shown; it is gone long before the train stops and the danger arrives. It doesn't even seem that the dog is dead so much as it simply never existed in the first place.
