Yes- this is the entire premise. Joe grows up in an abusive and neglectful environment from his parents and later by Mooney. He had no healthy example for love and care in his youth.

Yes. The focus of the series (and book) is Joe's obsession with Beck, a woman whom he casually meets, then stalks and eventually dates. [SPOILERS] Joe later kills Beck after she begins to discover his secrets. Although Joe is characterised as creepy and villainous, some viewers sympathise with him and describe him as a compelling, complex character. Some reviewers find that the show/book romanticises stalking, while others praise it as a cautionary tale that warns about the dangers of obsession. Regardless, if stalking could be a trigger for you, please take care.

A professor is shown to pressure grad students to have sex with him, it isn't clear if he ever does have sex with any of the women he pressures. There are also other themes of nonconsent, there's a character watching someone else have sex/masturbate, and relationships built on deception

season 3 episode 2 at around 30:40 [slight spoilers] Joe has to break a woman’s finger to get a ring off. you can tell when he’s about to do it (he kinda vaguely implies needing to do it while talking to Love) so you have a few seconds to mute/look away or just skip ahead to 31:06. this very specific type of gore/body horror is a huge panic attack trigger for me and i luckily managed to catch it before it fully happened. good luck and stay safe everyone.
