Disability as comeuppance trope in E1 Non-Black people with “dreads”, which are actually called locs, since the rearm “dreads” has a negative connotation. Locs are a closed practice to Africans, Polynesians, some Black Indigenous groups and their respective diaspora. There’s also jokes about people with “dreads” being dirty or having lice which is a racist stereotype which leads to ethnic hair styles being deemed “inappropriate” for workspaces and schools. A white person also has an Inuit/Native American stripe chin tattoo, which are also closed cultures, but are often missattributed to Vikings. Dreamcatchers, which are a closed practice to Indigenous Americans, are used in a steam achiement image. Having powers is also seen as an allegory to real world minorities, and people face discrimination and oppression for having them.
Yes, multiple times Seán and Daniel are arrested or attempted to be arrested by the cops. SPOILERS In two endings Seán is sentenced to life in prison and Daniel is too young to be charged.
In Episode 1, a man kicks the 16-year-old protagonist in the face hard enough to draw blood. In Episode 3, characters younger than 19 are physically harmed by middle-aged people.
however daniel may try to torture a scorpion by floating it in the air with his powers in the last episode but sean/the player can make him stop. nothing graphic.
Halfway through the second episode, the protagonists pet dog will be killed by a cougar. Depending on player choices, the cougar can be killed in retaliation.
when the main character gets into a fight with the asshole neighbour kid, the neighbour ends up getting pushed over onto a rock by accident and dies from breaking his spine, but it is shown that he is struggling to breathe
In the 5th episode you can command Daniel to kill two police officers, and he will kill them by crushing every bone in their body. This is avoidable though.
At the end of the gas station scene a racist, xenophobic man kidnaps and traps the protagonist(regardless of character decisions). The protagonist escapes and has an opportunity for revenge.
Nothing is shown, but one of the characters has been implied to have gone to a mental hospital in the past, with a minor antagonist saying "back from the loony in?". If you later choose not to contact this character I believe it is implied that their mental health deteriorates and they have to go back.
sort of, not really. in a dream sequence at the beginning of episode 4, daniel jumps off a cliff saying “come get me sean” before doing so. not really implied as a suicide but can be triggering.
Towards the end of the first episode, the main character gets called a slur commonly used against Hispanic people.
In the fourth episode, the main character gets called a slur used against Mexican people several times.
don't know if this counts, but there's an optional sex scene with cassidy in ep 3, her age is not stated but is most likely over 18. the main character is 16.
Heavy themes of religious abuse and cults. Daniel is manipulated by Lisbeth into thinking he is a miracle and lives with her while Seán is comatose. She continues to manipulate him when she is just using him and his powers, even when Daniel wants to leave she doesn’t permit it. Depending on your choices, you free him from her and run away.
