The mercenary is abandoned as a child in his backstory. The dark priest can also have been abandoned as a child, depending on the choices the player makes at the beginning of the game.
No, but a young girl who is heavily implied to be a victim of parental abandonment at best and possibly outright parental abuse. In spite of this, she seems to hold no resentment towards her father and seems sad if she finds that he is dead.
You are stalked relentlessly through the game by a specific enemy upon reaching in-game milestones. Said enemy has an interaction in which he watches you sleep.
Alcohol, opiates, and tobacco are used as items to reduce stress. There is a short animation of the character using the item when selected and description.
One of the final bosses will have a literal snake covering their groin area. There is also a boss called Salmonsnake, but it looks a lot more like a long axolotl than a snake.
Several characters are implied if not outright called pedophilic. You can kill one, you can sell a child to the other. Though not implemented because the developer was against it, there is an option ingame to have sex with a party member for a ritual, and an option to ask a child party member. This would instantly kill you, now is turned down but still a part of the game.
It is mentionned, threatened, and depicted repeatedly throughout from nearly the first enemy into the endings. Sexual violence is a central theme and horror used.
Yes, the player can be sexually assaulted. However, unlike another comment claims, you cannot sexually assault anyone. All participating individuals must consent to sexual acts that you wish to perform. The young child and dog characters cannot perform sexual actions.
Several enemies can do this as a special death scene. The player, however, cannot do this, as party members must consent for the ritual circle sex scene. The girl is not possible to do this with.
Yes, in the mid-game section there's an enemy that will break your bones if you do not predict a coin toss correctly. Based on the (not very clear) visuals, this could be a dislocation.
Although not exactly, there is an option to end the game early if your character manages to lose all their limbs, with the option to 'stop breathing', ending the character's life.
For some enemies, such as the guards, genitals are a part of the body which can be attacked/severed. Sometimes, you are heavily incentivized to do this.
While it's not called a seizure, the girl starts spasming violently in one of the endings. This occurs in the end game area inside the god of the depths, if she's in the party.
You can find a torture victim in the dungeons. You have the option to save him or sell him out to his tormenter. If you lose a fight against the tormentor he tortures you, but it is not implied. During a scene in Ma'habre, you can explicitly torture someone on a rack-like contraption, stretching their body to the point where they die. In terms of pixel games, it is rather graphic, and you can see the skin stretching.
Not an infant, but a little girl can be sold off to characters and also captured by the Harvestman who will behave disturbingly towards her, though not graphic
You can find a child and you can later find a doll. You can discard the doll, give it to her, etc. but there is no scene where the doll is explicitly destroyed. The doll is not depicted.
One of the characters has a wife. He can have sex with people that are not his wife, though given that it is a party member, that's entirely *your* choice.
There are three types of ghost enemies in the game. They appear in the level 5 thicket (optional, only encountered if the player attempts to pull out a sword in the ground), level 5 mines, level 6 mines and level 3 basement (optional, only if they grab the weapon at the end of the corridor)
There is a certain item in the game that can influence party members, eventually 'possessing' them if left unresolved. The item is completely optional, and the player is incentivized NOT to use it.
Horrifically and amusingly, yes- But only if your character has the anal bleeding status effect. Periodically blood will spatter to the ground with a fart sound.
There is a prison area in the dungeons. It is mainly filled with malformed guards but the Mercenary can be found locked in a cell here. It is implied he was raped by the prison guards
One of the characters is a man and confirmed to be in a relationship with a woman outside of the dungeons. He is able to have sex with several other characters (regardless of the other character's gender) as a part of rituals to appease the goddess of love and fertility. This could be perceived as cheating, or simply as a pragmatic choice to gain the boons the rituals offer.
There are enemies with sharp appendages, notably the guards have a stinger at the end of their tails and the manaeba can inject you with poison. In Ma'habre, Body Snatchers wield needles. There is no depiction of the injections, but you do hear a bit of audio gore to accompany it.
All of the four main characters are mentally ill. Trotur, a character encountered early on, as well as the Crow Mauler, the guards, and the prisoners are all implied to be people that lost their minds.
If a character's Mind stat gets too low, they suffer from a mental break and may ask to be left behind. They can be convinced to rejoin if certain conditions are met. Additionally, if the player characters Mind stat reaches 0, they develop panophobia (fear of everything), which could also be interpreted this way.
There are some sounds that I can imagine can get a bit annoying and repetitive. For example, the prison floor is made of metal beams and walking produces a dull clunking noise with every space you move.
As characters' stress gets higher/mind stat is lower you can talk to them and see them getting nervous or anxious and trying to calm down. They can be left behind (and talked to) as their state worsens and evenetually have a heart attack because of it.
Dying in Level 1 has a seemingly random chance to have you wake up inside a pile of gore. You can climb your way out. If you investigate outhouse holes in the game and decide to jump in, you won't be able to get back out.
Some scenes show people sacrificing themselves to gods. ALSO, if your mind points get low enough, the game will grimly state "suicide is always an option". You then unlock a special "suicide" ability where you can kill yourself.
In some rooms when you go to sleep you will be woken by an enemy watching you while you sleep. A powerful enemy follows and stalks you for a while through the game.
There is an enemy in the game, the Uterus, which has a 'child' in a hole in it's body. The 'child' will eventually drop out of the enemy (with the umbilical cord attached in some forms) and become another enemy. It mostly resembles a medical mannequin.
It's implied that the mercenary is bisexual. As one of the possible protagonists and party members, he can die during the game or in some of the endings.
You can find a group referred to as "cave dwellers" with uncomfortable similarities to common, unflattering and inaccurate perceptions of indigenous people. Additionally, yellow mages heavily lean into stereotypes of certain middle eastern and african cultures.
Some unfortunate, Lovecraftian-style racisms: Yellow mages are described to dance in a "ritualistic frenzy". Also, the cavedwellers are very much depicted as savage, wanton, godless people.
If the mind bar of a party member is low, when reaching a certain place they may ask to be left alone to rest. If they can't be convinced to keep going and they're not brought items that will replenish their mind bar, they will die of a heart attack off-screen.
