There are two police officers copper and booker who you can get in the police station which is a community works projects, there are posters of wanted posters and people in jail and references to locking people up
Some food items show meat (such as pepperoni pizza) which has some very disturbing implications considering pigs, cows, and chickens are villagers in the game 💀
There are tarantulas that will attack you if you try, but fail, to catch them with your net. These will cause you to faint and reawaken at your house. There are also docile spiders that can be seen by shaking a tree, upon which they will drop down briefly.
If a tree is shaken, bees may come out and sting your character. Your character's eye will be closed and puffy. Villagers will comment on this. It can be healed with medicine or skipping to the next day. Bee stings can be prevented by pressing save and continue as soon as you see bees, which will make them disappear when it reloads. Bees will never roam your town, they only appear when you shake certain trees and will always chase you.
It's only mentioned briefly by Sable, but both of her parents passed away prior to the game's events. It's only in one line of dialogue here, it's much more explicit in other games in the series.
There’s an old theory/creepypasta of sorts about the player being kidnapped when being brought to the village. Of course, this is just a creepypasta. Not official.
There are two police officer characters named Copper and Booker, who will only appear in your town if you build a police station (they do not leave this building). They are responsible for the Lost and Found items, which will give you random clothes/furniture or collect clothes/furniture left on the ground.
No but a few of the characters have their names and gender changed for a western audience. There is also no way to change your character’s or town’s name without deleting your save file
No, but again- certain furniture items are made to look like hospital equipment such as hospital beds, and others may somewhat resemble electro-therapy equipment.
Some fan made dream towns involve suicide implications, like the iconic Aika Village showing shoes by cliffs (in Japan, people take off their shoes before killing themselves)
Sort of depending on the player. If a nonbinary person plays, they will be forced to misgender themself and be misgendered by in game characters. It is possible to look androgynous but you can’t be nonbinary in this game unlike in New Horizons. So, yes and no depending on who’s playing.
Okay, funny story from Wild World, there actually was an instance where in official review copies of the game the sheep villager Baabara said the n word due to somebody (presumably at Nintendo) set her catchphrase as that, and it spread to the other cartridges at Nintendo. Aside from that, villagers will only say the n word if someone sets it to that.
In the beginning of the game on the train, if you say you think your name is 'cool', Rover will say that it's a masculine name. If you want a character who will be referred to with she/her and be regarded as a girl, you then have to choose 'I'm not a boy!'. Similarly, if you choose 'cute', Rover will say it's a feminine name. If you want a character who will be referred to with he/him and be regarded as a boy, you then have to choose 'I'm not a girl!'
Some of the clothing options could be insensitive if people from outside of those groups wear them, for example the Afro wig and unfortunately the only way to have dark or tan skin is to play for weeks back to back and gradually tan in the sun or to stand in the sun for hours afk, which wears off if you stop playing for a while and can only be overridden by the mii option at Harriet’s salon
No, but when swimming with a wetsuit in the ocean, if you hit a jellyfish, your character will be shown in distress which may look like someone drowning. This animation will stop in a few seconds if you move your circle pad, or if you don't want to look, there is a sound that indicates whether your character is still recovering from the jellyfish sting.
