There is a moment where there is slight concern for a dog's fate, not in a particularly drawn out or stressful way, but the main character goes out of his way to make sure the dog will be fine.
Billy stabs the villain in the back with the batarang. It’s shown very briefly and there’s no blood. The villain later pulls the batarang out of his back and carries on as usual
In the cave with all the doors, one of them is opened to reveal three alligator/crocodile-esque monsters playing cards. They lunge for the door but it’s closed in time
Not physically, but there is some pretty obvious emotional/verbal abuse/neglect especially toward the beginning of the film.
*SPOILER*
There is also a revelation that a child was essentially abandoned, so that might be pretty upsetting to some.
Not in a specifically "normal fire" way, but a character gets kind of burnt up after touching a magical door. It's a bit of a shocking moment in a film that tends toward being light in tone.
Main character is held by the hood of his coat and shoved underwater until out of breath repeatedly by the main villain during a tense moment near the end of the movie.
Three jumpscares.
1. At the beginning of the film, after the car stops spinning out, the boy's father begins to berate him - cue jumpscare.
2. When antagonist has figured out how to open the door, his colleague places her hand on the door and says something like, "you can't actually believe this is real" - cue jumpscare.
3. When the sins are wreaking havoc in the office, a secretary anxiously approaches the frosted glass - cue jumpscare.
MENTION of beer tasting like v*mit after coming out of the liquor store with beer. Two characters come out with beer and drink it and immediately spit it out dramatically. It is NOT v but despite some of the ratings saying “safe” it is definitely worth mentioning bc it caught me off guard. Shouldn’t be triggering if ur prepared for the scene bc again, it’s not v but just incase that’s something that bothers u mute/skip ahead a little right after they come outside of the corner store with a case of beer and open it up.
There is a scene that is meant to evoke an insane asylum that turns out to be a prison. The prisoner inside writes on the walls in a Beautiful Mind style scribble.
There's a scene or two where characters wind up in what is probably a strip club, but we don't actually see anything inside, so anything is just implied.
Not explicitly stated about Santa being real/not real, but there is a mall Santa who it is implied that he's not, and he has a scene where he's swearing a lot and so that all might not go over well with smaller children.
There is a prolonged scene in the first ten minutes involving a car spinning out, stopping, and then getting crashed into from the side causing a rollover. There is shattered glass and a slowmo focus on it.
