Horrifying shocker as a biological experiment goes haywire when meat-eating mutant roaches invade an island community, terrorizing a peaceful New England fishing village and hideously butchering its citizens.
This movie contains 1 potentially triggering events.
A rat is shot at and is killed by the mutant cockroaches. The front half of its body is shown alive, but it's really fake looking.
Later, a skinless cat/cockroach hybrid is fought and squashed.
A mother's earlier suicide is mentioned.
It's possible that another character killed themselves on purpose via freezing, but it may also have been an accident.
A woman is lied to about her mother's suicide (it was covered up as an accident), but it's not touched upon very much in comparison to the other stuff going on in the movie.
See my comment in "Does a cat die?" A rat is also shot at (real rat obviously filmed at a different time than the gunshots) and cockroaches are squashed. I think they probably squashed some real, live ones, but most squashed ones were fake.
Maybe the most brutal death scene. A cat is put into a trap (by a total psychopath) to get brutally killed by the mutant cockroaches. It was probably plenty fake, but it was disturbing. Gory corpse is shown, but it's less realistic than the dog corpse.
