Father of the main character is violent towards the mother. He isn't seen hitting her on-screen but it can be guessed via off screen sound effects, and it is later discussed in a non-ambiguous manner. The mother admits he has been hitting her for a while. In later episodes this is a subject that will be brought up several times.

The premise of the show is that the main villain kidnaps children from homes he beleives are toxic/abusive to take them to "Christmasland". Not only does the show deal with this villain kidnapping children, but some of the homes they come from are legitimately toxic environments. Toxic and abusive parenting is a reccuring theme through the series, and there is at least one instance of a child being hit by his father on screen. Episode 8 around the 19 minutes mark. Main character's mother throws a glass bottle at her while in an argument. It hits the wall. (Main character is 18)

Addiction to alcohol is a reccuring theme in the series. In addition to that, (spoilers for episodes 6 and 7) a character is shown to have an addiction to prescription pills. (Another character comments earlier that he doesn't want her to fall back into bad habits, and upon discovering her pill bottle mutters "not again", suggesting she has struggled with addiction in the past.) The main character's best friend smokes weed, as seen when he gives her some, but it's unclear whether or not he is addicted to it. (As far as episode 7 at least, I update these as I progress further in the series to be as accurate as possible.)

(Spoilers, obviously)
At the very end of episode 3, the main villain suddenly snaps a cat's neck on screen. There is a pretty disturbing noise, and while it's not overly graphic, this happens on-screen.
This scene is easily skippable by immediately jumping to episode 4 as Mittens appears on screen (and rubs against the villain's legs) because nothing else happens afterwards, it is the very last scene of the episode.
Mitten's body is very briefly shown in episode 4 as the main character finds him, but it isn't graphic and isn't on-screen for a very long time. (There isn't a clear shot of it, and the little that is shown looks a lot like a prop as well.)

Spoilers for episode 4. A young man sexually assaults his mother in a flashback. (Around the 33 minutes mark). It is heavily implied he sexually assaulted another woman he had abducted earlier, though it is not shown on screen. Episode 8. A man seems to be about to sexually assault the main character while she is tied up in his basement. However, she manages to free herself before he can molest her and incapacitates him.

The very first scene of the show deals with the main villain kidnapping a little boy while his associate is murdering the mother (and her boyfriend/one-night stand).
(While I am not done with the show yet, the villain expresses very clearly that he targets children with parents he believes are bad, and that he has no qualms about killing said parents. I presume this theme is very probably a reccuring one through the show.)

The premise of the show is that a malevolant man kidnaps children who comes from (what he believes are) abusive/toxic homes. The theme is recurring, and the whole intrigue is about finding the kidnapped children. In episode 3 (if I remember correctly) a woman is seen tied up in a basement by a man who gasses her with some sort of substance that makes her compliant. Episode 8. Main character is abducted by a villain who grabs her and gasses her until she is unconscious. She is later shown tied up into a basement where he drugs her again.

Not entirely confirmed, but very heavily implied. In episode 2 of the show, the main character's father leaves the family home to go live with his girlfriend. Some time later the mother shows up to get her daughter home and asks said girlfriend how long she has been sleeping with him. The question isn't answered, but judging by the fact that Chris (the father) left suddenly to move in with a girlfriend, it's pretty obvious he has been cheating for a while.

Very mild. Sometimes the main character has visions where images rapidly flash on the screen, and some of them could be a little upsetting. (Such as a little girl with sharp teeth for example). Those are not accompanied by sudden noises, and generally speaking did not make me jump. There is one however at the very start of episode 8 (4:17) that is a little more intense. With a sound effect and a zoom on a child with sharp teeth. It happens just as Vickie wakes up and rubs her eye.

A woman is put to sleep via a toxic gas while she is showering. She gets out of the shower to find that she has been locked inside the bathroom, and passes out shortly afterwards. This scene can be avoided by skipping to a little later in the episode when the man with the gasmask enters a house. (We hear the shower running.)

This is the last we hear about him. This can be avoided by skipping ahead when the mother's one night stand steps into the living room and sees static on the TV.

Minor mental institution scenes in the first few episodes. Nothing of note to report on them. However (Spoilers for episode 6) the main character signs up to be voluntarily admitted to a mental institution where she is put under medication without her explicit consent and is constantly threatened that her stay might be elongated. She also befriends a woman who has been in the institution for a long time and has been medicated for a condition she likely does not have. This can be avoided by skipping from the beginning of the 6th episode to the 20m mark.

This one is a little bit of a tricky one for me. The character in question isn't confirmed to be autistic, but some of his character traits could be reminiscent of the autistic spectrum and I felt uneasy watching the scene because of this (and also because it is an unpleasant scene in general). In early episode 4 we get a flashback from one of the character's memories. This character is established as being a little slow mentally, even though very sweet. We see that as a child his father was very abusive to him, and at some point the father gives him a little kick while he's laying down telling him to "get up, retard". This is followed by an emotionally taxing scene where we see the same character (though a little older) kill his father (after the father repeatidly calls him stupid) and repeat the same "get up, retard" sentence. He doesn't seem to understand what he just did at first, and is later found having what could sincerely look like an anxious meltdown by his mother. Again, this character is not confirmed to be autistic, but as an autistic person myself I couldn't help but draw the parallel, and I got a little upset by this scene, so I want to be on the safe side here.
