In a small peaceful town, zombies suddenly rise to terrorize the town. Now three bespectacled police officers and a strange Scottish morgue expert must band together to defeat the undead.

I'm almost 100% sure that we don't see any cats. Several people talk about their cats acting strangely (one of the cats aggressively) and/or having disappeared. It seems everybody's animals (pets and farm animals alike) have run off of their own accord; there's no reason to believe that any of them were harmed.
Child zombies are shown. The three non-zombie child characters in the film most likely survive: [SPOILERS] they are last seen escaping, and one of them says they know a safe place to hide. But we don't see them again and their fate is open to interpretation.
Three of the characters are police, but they're passively useless at their jobs (for example, they stop outside a hardware store besieged by zombies and then decide to drive away without helping the people who are stuck inside). This film says ACAB.
Three people are trapped in a car surrounded by zombies trying to get in. Three other people hide in a closet, but we don't see the inside of the closet.
The flashing lights of a police car are seen in several scenes. In at least one scene we see people sitting inside the police car, being lit by the alternating red and blue light.
[SPOILER!!] The plottwist is the characters mentioning the actual movie's director and saying they read the script, however they are suprised because the scene after that was not in the script they (the characters) read.
A young boy in a juvenile detention centre keeps visiting the girls' area because his friends are there. The guards ridicule him when they order him back to the boys' area, saying things like "Are you a girl? Do you want to be a girl?"
