After barely surviving a violent attack by an elusive serial killer, crime boss Jang Dong-su finds himself forming an unlikely partnership with local detective Jung Tae-seok to catch the sadistic killer simply known as "K".
The serial killer seems to be about to kill a dog that is in a cage on a "puppy farm". Before killing the dog, he is interrupted by the owner, and he kills the owner instead.
(SPOILER) It's not a heavy or depressing film, violence aside. Justice is served, and the two protagonists both achieve their goals to some extent, though there is a price.
After being injured in a fight, the killer performs self-surgery with a staple gun. In this scene there's a close up of him injecting medicine (painkiller or antibiotic, probably)
There are many violent fight scenes and severe beatings in this film. I am sure there were some broken bones, but I don't recall any particular emphasis on bones breaking.
The gangster boss graphically pulls out two of a henchman's teeth as a way of punishing him. In another scene, someone spits out teeth after being punched in the mouth.
A serial killer commits several murders by stabbing people after deliberately rear-ending their cars. Nobody is injured in these crashes, they are attacked after they get out of their car to examine the damage. The killer also runs over the gangster boss in his car. Near the end, there is a car chase scene with several much more serious collisions, including a three-way crash and a car crashing into a building.
There's a great deal of violence but it's all done with punching, stabbing, car collisions, and people hitting each other with various objects. No guns.
