While the first dog we see is fine and defeating its monster form only turns it back into a dog, in a flashback to Shirogane's childhood, it can be inferred that his dog died in the same fire that killed his parents.
In one filler episode, an adult appears announcing that he was betrothed to a child by her absent father in order to take care of her. Everybody disapproves of this, and in the end, the man breaks it off and leaves without protest.
Kikki, the version of Bu-ling from the 4Kids dub, was rewritten to be living in a homeless shelter to censor the fact that she and her siblings are living alone without parents, but that too is retconned later in the dub.
Ichigo is stalked by an alien named Kisshu beyond unrequited love. Despite her complete rejection of him he continually tries to kidnap her so she won't die when his race destroys the Earth. His "love" for her is borderline delusional and may be disturbing to some. SPOILER: In the last episode he agrees to leave Earth and leave Ichigo alone, accepting her friendship.
Bu-Ling, an 11-year-old is shown to be living alone and caring for her five siblings (one being kindergarten aged) due to her mother having died and her father training in China. The end of the episode suggests that her sister's kindergarten teacher will be helping them out. In 33 it's revealed that Bu-Ling's father has set up an arranged marriage with one of his students, who is clearly much older. The marriage appears to have been called off by the end of the episode.
In episode 35 a little girl, Momoka, is upset that her parents are rarely ever around. At one point in the episode, one of the villains shoves Momoka to the ground, knocking her out. The episode ends with her parents promising to never leave her alone again.
Episodes 14 (butterflies), 16 (water fleas), 22 (cicadas), 26 (moth), 34 (humanoid spider), and 40 (mole cricket) feature bug-themed monsters. For the most part, they're rather colorful and cartoony.
The character Quiche/Kisshu's harassing behavior towards Ichigo borders on sexual assault and often involves him threatening her for not wanting to be with him, forcing kisses on her, and pinning her down.
In episode 40 Mew Pudding ends up trapped underground with one of the aliens. Due to the lack of oxygen she begins to have trouble breathing and eventually passes out. The alien ends up teleporting her back to the surface, where she soon wakes up. Episode 52 has a scene where Mew Ichigo is choked by Deep Blue.
just like in sailor moon and other magical girl anime, the main cast of magical girls are killed and then revived during a showdown. however, i didn't even realize that they Had died and thought they just passed out and woke up again, so it's not even as bad as sailor moon
only a tiny, tiny bit, and most of it is harmless. in one of the major battles there's a very brief weird shot of one of the girls, and theres a tiny, tiny bit of fanservice of one of the teen boys but like. its targeted toward teen girls so it really doesn't matter. if anything at least its equality
One character is orphaned after his parents die in a fire, a second character is also an orphan but we never learn what happened to his parents, and a third character's mother died of an undisclosed illness.
The main character kisses/is kissed by multiple people, even after entering a relationship. Most of the kisses are forced on her, and the only times she kisses others is to change back from her cat form. She typically kisses animals to do this, but in one instance she kisses a younger teammate.
In episode 3, two characters explore a school after hearing rumors of a ghost, though it's eventually revealed that there is no ghost.
In episode 4, a pair of characters on a date end up in a haunted house attraction, which includes a ghost. The scene is short.
a character is possessed by an evil entity and this is discovered late in the series. there is a major spoiler in the rest of the comments here, so copying what another person said (minus the spoiler): the aliens also use parasites to possess animals and humans, turning them into monsters called Chimera Anima.
Mew Lettuce has her body made fun of and is called fat by bullies and Pudding makes some blunt comments about her being curvy. Body dysmorphia is not body horror. Body dysmorphia is not gender dysphoria. Dymorphia is what anorexics experience-it makes them feel larger than they are.
A child in episode 35 mentions dieting in order to to emulate her idol. The idol in question tells the child that she doesn't support dieting, and that eating healthy and exercising is the right thing to do.
Not because they are queer. All the characters die and then are revived in a showdown fight. one of the main characters is queer coded and dies like everyone else does, before they and everyone else is revived
Mew Lettuce being bullied and called "fat" by mean girls is portrayed as bad and negative. Mew Pudding calling her curvy is portrayed as a young child being ignorant/cute. There are never any jokes about her weight or her being curvy. (She is not drawn as fat- she is only slightly thicker than the other Mews).
there is no incest. however in episode 33 a grown man comes to bu-ling/pudding sent by her father and announces that he is her fiance. the episode doesn't give anything to the plot, i recommend skipping it
In her intro episode, a destabilized Mew Lettuce tries to pull people underwater or attack them with water in a fearful state, but nobody actually drowns.
