Perhaps their strikingly different personalities make the relationship between detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles so effective. Jane, the only female cop in Boston's homicide division, is tough, relentless and rarely lets her guard down, while the impeccably dressed Maura displays a sometimes icy temperament — she is, after all, more comfortable among the dead than the living. Together, the best friends have forged a quirky and supportive relationship; they drop the protective shield in each other's company, and combine their expertise to solve Boston's most complex cases.
This tv show contains 31 potentially triggering events.
season 4, epsiode 9 - 3 allusions to puppy/dog killing in budding serial killer behavior; around 14.5 min mark Jane has a nightmare where Hoit describes killing a dog when he was young - fast forward to around 15.5 min mark to avoid it
season 6, episode 18 - around the 10 minute mark a police dog (german shepard) gets shot in the woods and they show it twice, once pretty up close.
Kind of, but it's more implied than shown.
-SPOILER S1 E8-
Serial killer Hoyt abducted a woman years ago. He killed her husband and manipulated - and presumably gaslighted - her into loving and even killing for him. But like I said, none of that happens on screen.
There is a scene (idk which episode, sorry) where a young man almost gets crushed on a junkyard by one of those machines that crush cars, but the machine can get stopped before it injures him.
Detective Frost passes away, they had to make him pass away in the show because the actor Lee Thompson Young sadly passed away from suicide. R.I.P. Lee😞
The episode is about the death of a mother and the disapperance of her child. However techincally the child isn't abducted and in the end it comes out that it was never really in danger, but I wanted to mention this episode anyway if you're very sensitive to something like this.
One instance of a prison Shiv fashioned out of a ballpoint pen with a razor blade in it (not the weapon used in the episode, just brought up a Isles' bizarre fascination)
There is a scene where a woman’s body is hidden inside a church. (She gets murdered while praying) They figure this out during a baptism which has to be stopped immediately when Maura Isles smells the corpse.
Jane and Maura find a couple of snakes of the front seat of their car. There are a few stereotypical "snake sounds" before they show the snakes. They are only shown for a few seconds, a few seconds later there's a quick shot of a snake handler putting them away (they are not killed). I can't recall any other moments with snakes.
Definitely in S2E7, but it's not shown on screen, only the burned body is shown. At the end of that episode the murderer tries to burn another victim and the fire is already burning, but the victim gets saved before the flames reach her. There might be a few times more, but it's never shown (or heard) on screen.
Shows images of strangulation and nooses in last half of episode. I stopped watching so I don’t know if there are more. S2:e13- shows noose around a neck; theory is suicide. Stopped watching episode
S4E3- hanging. Stopped watching series- too many activation scenes. S3:E12 - starts with hanging. Stopped watching episode.
There is a scene where some characters are trying to "talk to the ghost" of a murder victim. One of them appears to get possessed (voluntarily) by said ghost for a short moment and says a few words through the mouth of the "vessel". It's kind of left open if something supernatural actually happened but it's alluded to that it was fake by the main characters (also Rizzoli & Isles is a series without any supernatural elements in general)
Centra episode of a later season, a long awaited pregnancy is lost when the main character is shot. Talked about for an episode after and not brought up again
Season 2, episode 2. A pregnant woman is stabbed and dies.
It's graphic. They perform an emergency c-section and the baby is stillborn but revived. VERY graphic.
There are multiple scenes and episodes including homeless people. A lot are not being pictured in a negative way (for example a homeless woman keeps a baby safe from the cold outside and a confidential informant is also i’m assuming a homeless man) but some are sad since some homeless people get murdered.
season 6, episode 18 - around the 10 minute mark a police dog (german shepard) gets shot in the woods and they show it twice, once pretty up close.
