A charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime. Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.
This movie contains 32 potentially triggering events.
After Lakeith Stanfield's character pours alcohol in his fish tank, Howard leaves the room in a rage and slaps his girlfriend's smoothie at her so that it explodes all over her. This may be triggering to domestic violence survivors, particularly because he does it while angry.
Not in the face or anything, but the cup she's holding gets slapped almost out of her hands in anger. It's a pink drink and she's left in semi-public with it all over her
The opening scene (within the first two minutes) shows an injured man with a broken shinbone. We don't see how the injury happened, just the aftermath. There are two brief but gory shots of his leg and you do see bone sticking out. This takes place in an Ethiopian opal mine and provides context for the gem that plays an important role in the film, but the scene is otherwise unimportant so it's OK to skip past it if you're triggered by broken bones or gore. Later in the film, the main character's nose is broken when he is punched, though this scene is less graphic.
The main character is in a loveless marriage while simultaneously dating a girl noticeably younger than him. Additionally, his "girlfriend" gets kissed on the neck by another man.
The main character hides in a closet to jump out and surprise his girlfriend. It shouldn't be surprising to the audience but it is a sudden movement & noise, and she is startled and screams.
No showering shown on screen, but a character says he's gonna go take a shower and he can be seen wearing a towel around his waist (the rest of it is off-screen as he isn't really the focus of the scene)
Not destroyed, but the whole premise of the movie and the way it goes down could be a little much for someone sensitive to loss of important/priceless items
There is an overall element of stalking all throughout. That and people are watched over CCTV
But the scene that came to mind is the closet scene, as a character is watched by their partner from a closet for quite some time. The partner comes out of hiding eventually and after a scare they laugh it off, so no harm is done but still
There is a sexting scene where a nude is sent - the sender is wearing lingerie - and masturbation happens right after for only a brief moment (and under said lingerie)
Another scene has a character be stripped naked (no genitals shown)
Characters flirt over text message with explict sexual terms, one character is shown mostly undressed and masturbating, references to e*********n are also made in multiple non sexual situations
