Spies in Disguise
Movie • 2019 • Action
ReportSuper spy Lance Sterling and scientist Walter Beckett are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is… not. But what Walter lacks in social skills he makes up for in smarts and invention, creating the awesome gadgets Lance uses on his epic missions. But when events take an unexpected turn, Walter and Lance suddenly have to rely on each other in a whole new way.

Walter's mother leaves to report to a crime in the prologue, and it's later revealed that she was killed during that event. So yes, but not intentionally.

not sure if this counts, but Walter’s mother is a police officer and there are photos/newspaper clippings referring to her as a “hero cop” and it is brought up throughout the movie that she was a “hero” who “sacrificed herself for others”. basically a lot of glorification.

There's a quick joke referring to subtitles which could in theory be made by a person who doesn't know they're in a movie. But there are, in fact, subtitles.

In one brief scene toward the end, we find out that Lance's pigeon form is apparently female when pigeon-Lance lays an egg. You could interpret that as being a version of this trope, since that's about the only way you can tell male and female pigeons apart. I think the joke is meant to be more about the weirdness of pigeon bodily functions (which has come up several times before) than about gender identity.
