Natalie Babbitt's award winning book for children comes to the screen in a lavish adaptation from Walt Disney Pictures. Winnie Foster (Alexis Bledel) is a girl in her early teens growing up in the small rural town of Winesap in 1914. Winnie's parents (Victor Garber and Amy Irving) are loving but overprotective, and Winnie longs for a life of greater freedom and adventure.
This movie contains 5 potentially triggering events.
there's a scene where a character who doesn't know how to swim goes in water, but is supported the entire time by another character
Jesse Tuck talks about Winnifred potentially drowning in rather vivid detail during this scene, but no one drowns
at various points the Tucks talk about potential injuries they should've gotten but didn't, mentioning one of the Tucks landing on their neck but being unharmed
Early on it is implied that the Tuck's grandkids died. Later you find out one died of influenza and the other, it was mentioned that if he were still alive today he would be 80. It's unknown when either of them died or how the second kid died but it is mentioned
Huge plot point of the story. Winnie is kidnapped by the Tucks and kept at their house when she gets close to finding their secret. Though they don't bind her, trap her, force her, etc, she is still kept with them and isn't allowed to go home
this isnt a spoiler but if you literally know nothing about this movie/book then... kind of...
Jesse is 17 (technically 104) and Winnie is 11... like i would say thats kind of a big age gap. It's not like a big deal or anything but it can bother some people. No r@pe or s3x or anything, its a kids movie. But they do kiss so if that bothers you than i wouldn't recommend.
