During the filming of Last Summer, a seagull was accidentally killed. Actress Barbara Hershey had to throw the bird in the air to make her fly. The scene was reshot over and over again. Hershey could tell the bird was tired. Finally, when the scene was finished, director Frank Perry told Hershey the bird had broken her neck on the last throw.
