Retribution
Movie • 2006 • Thriller
ReportA detective investigates a series of murders. A possible serial killer might be on a rampage, since they all are in the same vicinity and by the same method, but as the evidence points toward the detective as the prime suspect, a ghost in red follows him, and he begins to question his identity. His realization of what seems to have really happened results in something much more sinister and larger in scope, and it leaves his psyche scarred.

Sort of implied, I think, that a man wants to make a woman his wife and she seems to be going along with it unwillingly until she bashes him over the head with a blunt object. (Good for her!)

Not really, but there's a scene early in the film where a corpse expels water from its mouth

Someone is sedated with a cloth to stop them freaking out after awaking screaming from a nightmare.

Opening of film, a man kills a woman by holding her down in a puddle. Couple of instances of police brutality where the detective has to be held back from beating down on a suspect/murderer.

No, but the beginning of the film opens with a man dragging a woman and it seems like it could be a bit rapey, until he kills her.

Soft jumpscares - the rest of the colour in the film is grey/brown/washed out - and you always see the ghost in a very bright red dress. There doesn't seem to be many startling audio cues to make it more of a jumpscare - she's just there in the background.
