A 16 year old possesses condoms and has the ability to have sex with a similarly aged character, though to my knowledge there is nothing gratuitous, everything is offscreen, and is moreso attempting to portray the reality that teenagers do have sex.
Whenever Daniel used his powers there is a distant but high pitched ringing, like a hairdryer going off in the next room. There is often overlapping sounds and dialogue E1 eating noises E2 sloppy noises when you stir the ravioli in the pot E3 licking noises
Depends on which ending you get. The “bad ending” where you make it to Mexico but Sean dies has Daniel turn into a superhero/villain and it’s show he is morally grey at best, killing other gangsters and criminals.
Disability as comeuppance trope in E1 Non-Black people with “dreads”, which are actually called locs, since the rearm “dreads” has a negative connotation. Locs are a closed practice to Africans, Polynesians, some Black Indigenous groups and their respective diaspora. There’s also jokes about people with “dreads” being dirty or having lice which is a racist stereotype which leads to ethnic hair styles being deemed “inappropriate” for workspaces and schools. A white person also has an Inuit/Native American stripe chin tattoo, which are also closed cultures, but are often missattributed to Vikings. Dreamcatchers, which are a closed practice to Indigenous Americans, are used in a steam achiement image. Having powers is also seen as an allegory to real world minorities, and people face discrimination and oppression for having them.
E2 discussion of heaven. After going to grandmas, Claire and the boys pray, but you can refuse. E3 someone talks about becoming disillusioned with Christianity
E1 someone dies to bodice brutality and the two sons run away, fearing incarceration. This is the entire premise of the game. Later, one of the boys are kidnapped or “citizens arrest” but the person that does it locks him in a room and ties him to a pipe, beating him up. The person who kidnapped you tries to call the cops on you and get you locked up, mentioning how cops often don’t believe marginalised peoples over white people and calling him racist words.
Daniel and Sean flee from their home, you see texts between you and your friends and they are obviously worried about you. You can choose to call your friend and risk her telling the cops about you or throw your phone into the ocean without calling her.
E2 You feed your dog tinned ravioli, which potentially has onion, salt and garlic in it, which are alll toxic to dogs and have low nutritional value. Please double check before feeding your dog anything that isn’t specifically made for dogs or is plain meat. Later a dog owner is asked to leash their dog and they respond “we don’t do leashes” to me, as someone who deeply cares for animal rights, that is a huge red flag. They make it out to be some rebellious behaviour toward the law, which like I agree with and am anti capitalism, howeve most of the time leash laws are for everyone’s safety, including the dog, their handler and any potential wild or service animals that happen to be in the area. Their dog better be very heavily obedience trained to be able to do this ethically.
E1 Daniel is being bullied by a kid that is much older and bigger than him, you step in to stop and he swings at you, you hit him once and he falls over on a rock becoming paralysed.
E1 Daniel can get sick if you feed him poisonous berries on accident E2 Mention of not boiling water before drinking resulting in Daniel “spewing from both ends” E4 throwing up when you finish hitchhiking
Yes, the game comes with a phototsensktitby warning (but some games do this just to cover their asses legally, it doesn’t always mean there’s flashing or flickering in-game). Flashing happens especially in E1 when you leave to get David a soda, you come back and there’s flashing lights. At this point I had a seizure while playing and was unable to intput any options into the game for the duration of the scene. There are also minor cases of flickering a couple of themes in E1. One where the light flickers through the trees as youre walking by, the other I can’t remember. There is also a scene where light suddenly comes, when Seán is locked in the gas station back room, he kicks a role of cardboard to turn a computer on, giving him more light, he then asks Daniel to turn the neon light outside on and it flickers on. E3 if you choose to let Daniel use his powers on Merrill the lights start flashing for a minute E5 after Seán is interrogated, the lights flicker
