Barbie plays Rosella in this new musical film. Shipwrecked as a child, Rosella grows up on the island under the watchful eyes of her loving animal friends. The arrival of Prince Antonio leads Rosella and her furry pals to explore civilization and ultimately save the kingdom by uncovering a secret plot.
Not traditionally. The Villain's plot involves putting all of the animals to sleep so they don't get in the way of her killing the king, and they're in danger of starving if Barbie doesn't save them. In addition, she tells three rats that she'll give them all the cheese they deserve if they do her a favor and then only gives them a very small amount of cheese. That second one is just bullying animals.
A plot point is that several animals have a "sleeping sickness" and the idea that they will starve to death if they're not awoken is mentioned several times. The heroes succeed though, and nobody dies.
The villain isn't a good mother, emotionally, but is not shown hurting her daughter physically. Just not listening to her, belittling her dreams and hobbies, etc. This, of course, could make some viewers uncomfortable.
A character is told not to eat on her wedding day, and she assumes this means something unsavory. However, it's just because the food is poisoned and she's being warned.
There is a drowning scene at the beginning of the movie and also near the end. Nobody dies. In the first scene, the character is washed ashore an island. In the second, they are saved by dolphins. It still may be frightening.
The main villain is a widower, and his heart condition being his cause of death is mentioned. However her daughter wasn't born to her rich husband. In fact, we have no idea who her father is. The main character, Ro, has no father but his death isn't mentioned.
No, however. The main villain recklessly drives her carriage and Nearly hits three women who are walking down the street. They all jump out of the way.
A character is flung, but she lands safely in mud.
A background character jumps out of the way of a speeding carriage and nearly falls off a bridge into the water, but is saved by the prince.
