The teacher, Julia, gains information about Lucas without consent, goes through his belongings and shows them to others, & goes to his house, and he even has to tell her to stop following him, which does not deter her. Her brother Paul even tells her it's not okay but she keeps pursuing it. This could be really upsetting for people with bad experiences with authority figures violating their privacy.

Julia, the teacher, has flashbacks to her childhood and with her as an adult featuring her father in which she is afraid of him, cries out "daddy, no," and is impacted in real life by the flashbacks by jumping when her brother comes to check on her at the piano. She is shown hiding under the kitchen and being stalked as a child by her father, & later describes him breaking her arm. The sexual abuse is implied, including by her father being in her bed naked holding her teddy bear. It is also implied (basically stated) that her brother Paul was abused, without details.
While coping with the effects of the monster, the father of the main child lead, Lucas, is aggressive and other people in the story say Lucas has been abused, but aside from yelling that doesn't appear to happen on screen (though Lucas has visible scratches on his back and is neglected & unwell because of his father's state). His father is depicted as loving, trying to make them able to survive by selling drugs, but also a methamphetamine addict. He only appears abusive after the monster has taken hold.

There are dead bodies of a skunk, raccoon, and a bear, but you don’t see them die. With the skunk, you see the boy pick up a rock, but then it cuts to him walking and holding the dead carcass.

The hospital scene with Lucas includes the doctor suggesting antipsychotics and other medicine for him, which felt really extreme and kind of off-putting.
There is also a scene with the school nurse with Lucas shirtless with the teacher Julia present that shows his scars and emaciated state.

There are enough flashing lights that the ticket taker warned me about it when I handed her my ticket. Even though I don't have epilepsy, the flashing lights gave me a headache after a while.
