There are several scenes of covert operations, deep research into people's lives, and people being followed in cars. A woman says that many men track her down to confront her.
A woman regularly uses a vape pen, although it's not shown what substance she is vaping. Someone is injected with drugs against their will to make it look like they've nearly overdosed. There is vague discussion of drug smuggling.
No addiction. A character uses a vape pen, possibly suggesting she's a recovering smoker. (See entries for drugs and alcohol for all their occurrences, although no addiction seems to be present)
No but alcohol is present. Characters are shown drinking socially near the beginning. Near the end, a character is placed in a car unconscious with an open bottle of liquor to suggest they'd been drunk driving.
Multiple scenes. A woman is choked by someone's elbow. A man puts a plastic bag over a woman's head and she gasps and struggles before they poke a hole in it so that she can breathe. A woman is underwater and has to fight her way out of a car and make it to the surface. A house is filled with gas from a stove that makes people cough.
After a woman has been punched and is in a car accident, she pulls out one of her teeth which has come loose. She is shown at the dentist as they re-implant it.
A woman is kidnapped and tied to a chair with zip ties while she is threatened. She is punched in the face and her nose bleeds very slightly, although later it's shown that a tooth was knocked loose. A bag is put over her head and she struggles to breathe for a long moment before her captors open the bag again. She is threatened repeatedly, and then put into a car so that she nearly drowns. There are other, brief references to torture.
There are discussions about people's parents and whether or not they will die in a care facility. One person's parent does die, but it isn't shown on screen.
No, but we see an elderly woman's possessions get methodically cataloged and sold off after she's kidnapped. The scenes go on for a while, and are definitely a LOT if that sort of thing makes you uncomfortable.
The film is about a woman who legally kidnaps and imprisons wealthy elderly people so that she can drain them of their assets. Throughout the film, multiple people are kidnapped by the mafia, including a scene with a woman who is drugged with a sedative dart and put into the trunk of her own car.
No, read the entry for mental institution for more details, but electro therapy isn't even threatened by characters who like to gloat and threaten. (Footnote that there are two scenes where characters are shocked and tazed suddenly, but not in a mental hospital, and it only happens to non-elderly characters to violently incapacitate them)
A nurse injects a woman with a sedative using a syringe. A woman is sedated with a dart that she pulls out of her leg. A man is sedated twice with a needle.
The plot is about how an elderly woman is taken into state care unnecessarily and against her will, and then put into a mental institution. There is a brief scene of her being taken into the mental institution specifically, and many of the care facility.
An elderly lady who is thought to have dementia tries to choke someone; she is not actually mentally ill, but this is used as reason to put her into a psychiatric facility
It's not a LOT of flashing, but think of something a level or two more intense than a dark room being intermittently lit by bright headlights passing by in both directions. Or slow rave club/concert lights. That sort of lighting happens a lot, especially at some kind of fancy gym the main character goes to.
people are told they are uncapable or have their symptoms treated as worse than they actually are. the characters doing this are seen as evil and wrong.
This has nothing to do with transphobia, but when a sleazy man hears someone mention a specific doctor, first he assumes she's a man and is corrected. Then he says "he --sorry sheeee!" in an exaggeratedly douchey way. Then later he obnoxiously refers to her as "the LADY doctor." (*What the other commenter isn't realizing is that to people who have been misgendered, this character's tone is all too familiar, and I would have wanted to know about it beforehand.*)
Men fire guns at each other, and several people are clipped or shot, without gore. People are threatened with guns in several scenes. Someone is shot with a lot of blood.
