It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself. Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.
This tv show contains 100 potentially triggering events.
Some of the Hashira parents are abusive, (Rengoku’s dad, Sanemi’s dad) and a background character in Season 1 is shown to have bruise marks from being abused. In season 3, a lady who acts as a mother figure abuses her children.
Rengoku forgives his abusive father. It’s shown that Rengoku still has great respect for his father even though his dad is a low life jerk. Also Tanjiro forgives most of the demons who try to kill him (if that counts)
There is no page for the manga, so I will write it here. In chapter 194 there are a few graphic panels of a cat sliced into pieces. However, the cat is healed and back to normal within the same page. He is alive and well. Please note that this scene is not in the anime yet.
Implied during the Entertainment District Arc. Ume is selected to work in a brothel within the entertainment district where primarily lower class sex workers make a living. It’s heavily implied she’s to be a sex worker here. She is said to be so “beautiful” she can “even make adults falter.” We don’t see the attack, but we know an adult man had attacked her in a manner which provoked her to stab him with a hair pin in self defense. It’s heavily heavily implied this man was going to sexually assault this girl, who had JUST turned 13.
Nobody is said explicitly to be sexually assaulted that I recall, but Daki was only 13 when she died and had been forced into sex work, and it's implied or likely to have happened in a few other cases.
In the entertainment district arc the upper 6 demon Gyutaro is bullying Tanjiro and says that he should be protecting his sister with this hand and he violently snaps Tanjiro’s fingers back and the fingers stay purple and malformed for the rest of the arc.
Most of the demons torture their victims in one way or another, and some of the slayers explicitly take pleasure in torturing demons as well. Some characters were tortured as children or before they became demons
The only way for a demon to die is via decapitation. Nezuko kicks a demon in the head, causing it to explode in season 2. Two instances of a demon’s head graphically regenerating slowly. A woman has an excessive amount of demon blood injected into her, causing the cells in her body to violently break down into a puddle.
The first episode features pretty grotesque shots of all of Tanjiro's younger siblings (minus Nezuko) dead in their bloody house. It's also revealed that a specific demon murdered two Slayers in training, pretty early on.
There are no possessions but people turn into demons. They're still basically themselves and aren't influenced by another being, just completely corrupted to the point of extreme violence
Buildings do sometimes sustain nassive damages and/or collapse during battles, but since this takes place in 1910-1920s Japan, there are no actual depictions of 9/11
On Episode 8, a character rakes their arm with their claws. In Episode 22-23, another character cuts their arm with their sword purposefully to get the attention of a demon. There are other minor scenes which involve SH as well.
There are no actual use of R slur in the manga, it's more of a case of poor fan translation. Still pretty upsetting to read if you happen to read that fan translation though.
im not sure if it counts as an anxiety attack but there are some scenes with really intense emotional reactions cus a lot of f****d up stuff happens to the characters.
Nezuko is only allowed to live under the condition that Tanjiro has to swear under oath that if his sister ever harms a human, he will kill her than himself, which he does swear to.
in the mugen train arc, a character killed themself multiple times in a dreamworld they were trapped in to come back to reality, but they're fine in the real world.
there's a suicide attempt in the second chapter of giyuu garden.
there is hanging in chapter 154. a character killed themself successfully in chapter 156. another character mentioned that their mother killed herself in chapter 163.
In the first season, Tanjiro jumps into murky water and sinks very far down in order to kill a demon. In the third season, a Hashira is trapped in a floating human-sized bubble of water he can’t escape from in order to drown him. He is freed before he can drown to death but he is stuck in there for a long time.
It isn't in the anime yet but one of the characters (Inosuke) is fighting uppermoon 2 (Douma) and it's said that his mother left when he was just a baby because her husband would go on violent sprees over Inosukes crying
After the credits in each episode, there’s a segment in which the characters speak to the audience about trivia and tease the next episode. These sections are for comedic purposes and are entirely disconnected from the ongoing narrative so they can be easily skipped.
The previous comment is likely only true in unofficial translations online. It’s very unlikely the original Japanese or any official translations would use the r slur.

Mitsuri has a bath scene (her b00bs are covered and nothing else is shown) and Tanjiro gets n@ked in front of Genya (there is a censor you-know-where) in Swordsmith Village Arc.
Mitsuri and daki wear revealing outfits
And a lot of attention is brought to Mitsuri's breasts both by characters and the camera. Nezukos grown up form shows a lot of cleavage
no, not at all, but there was a couple seconds where zenitsu thought tanjiro was dating nezuko but that was pretty much immediately taken back once he found out they were siblings. not nearing anywhere incestuous but its still something to prepare for if you're extra sensitive to stuff like that!
Zenitsu was homeless for a period of time during his childhood. Inosuke was raised by boars in the woods, and there are a few other characters who were implied to be homeless during their past.
there is a scene where a character struggles to breath because he is trapped in a marsh, but manages to make it to the surface. there is also a character who almost drowns because he is trapped in a ball of water
