small spoilers!!!, sort of, there is a thing with one of the characters (kitty) and her sister who treated her awfully in her life but kitty dose not fully realise this in an episode in season three kitty talks about her sister she realises acknowledges it and this is up to interpretation but she according to the cast decides to be happy despite it there is a lot more to this I think then simply her being happy despite it but that is what happened MAJOR SPOILERS!!! her sister dose apologise in season five.
One of the main ghosts mary is falsely accused and burned at the stake for witchcraft it’s now shown but mentioned a lot also annie’s husband is horrible verbally to her and its gender based but this is only one short scene so take that as you will
no but Thomas dose briefly mention he had to go cold turkey on 0pium its hardly a line he says "of course it was the same with 0pium" when trying to get over Alison in S4.E2 ∙ Speak as ye choose slight spoilers: he is trying to go cold turkey on Alison a living married woman he is in love with (or he believes he is) and i think it dose in some ways replicate going cold turkey on drugs but im not sure so just be careful
No but Fanny/Lady Button dose mention her old pet horse in S4.E2 ∙ Speak as ye choose who had died and we see where he was buried Alison stands where he was buried and Fanny tells her to move
After the first haunting, lots of "set dressing" on the stairs to the basement. No residents, though. But if the hint is triggering enough, avert your eyes.
No but a ghost character has an affair with the body of a decapitated ghost’s body (but not his head as they are separately ‘sentient’) so 1. The head is upset to find that his body has been dating her 2. With no head the body probably couldn’t consent— verbally and all— but this would be overthinking it haha but worth noting
one of the ghosts after being shot with an arrow in the neck struggles to breath sort of this scene is shown in season one episode three and in season two episode six
One of the main characters is a headless ghost, whose head and body act as separate beings. The decapitation is shown in s3e1 "the bone plot" straight after he comes out of the chimney
Going to say no. There are ghosts with somewhat gruesome appearances (a headless man, a child who died of the plague, a man who was shot in the neck by an arrow, several folks who perhaps died of the pox) but mostly they look campy and are not scary or excessive.
Kind of debatable as to whether ghosts count as humans. SPOILER: Mary (a ghost) “moves on”. It’s not like a general death but the episode focuses a lot on grief.
There are frequent “jump scares”- however, all of which are for comedic affect and aren’t actually scary. For example, Robin often makes Alison jump by shouting “boo.”
Yes; S01E05 Mike gags while cooking the pheasant, some audio, no visual.
S02E02 [27:40] Alison is gagging throughout the episode (hangover) and v*mits in the last few seconds of it, full audio and visual.
S02E06 [5:00] Kitty says "yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" then v*mits, full audio and visual (looks like dust, though, since she's a ghost).
ALL EPISODES the ghosts all gag anytime someone passes through them, which happens variably throughout.
a ghost is in one episode who died and then had his leg eaten by badgers this is not shown but kitty is interested in this ghosts leg and asks questions about it which could be a bit gruesome if you did want to skip this episode its not very important to the plot its the lowest rated episode also you would be fine skipping it and just looking up a summery if you really wanted
not seen but! in the episode Wood Worm men which is season three episode three, there is a flash back to one of the characters who was ill from food in a bathroom and you can hear him using the bathroom and its not very nice but this is not seen its noise behind a door, I do not recommend skipping this episode entirely but you could skip this scene id recommend stopping at 17:03 or when Thomas says "I returned home with an empty notebook" and return at 17:15 that skips it and what is said is not important but it is Alison says "you must have got something from it" he got ill from it and then when you resume its Pat is talking about Carol his wife wanting to go to France.
In the episode where the neighbours come for dinner, one of them suffers after eating beef, audible flatulence Also the episode with the woodworm when Thomas talks about visiting Venice
Potentially? Julian regularly recounts his affairs outside of marriage with multiple people and it is uncertain if any of those experiences were with men
A few times someone jokes about the Captain being obviously gay before he's out (like Robin saying that he's definitely not the one having an affair with Fanny). But it's not like this has any consequences for anyone.
A woman is knocked unconscious and there are scenes following involving an ambulance, a hospital, and various medical equipment. S01, episodes 01 and 02.
its not said that any of them do, but i do think about ghosts a lot and i do notice some things in some characters but i do think about it a lot so just watching it should be fine one of the characters, Mary dose seem to have PTSD but its never confirmed and Thomas NPD
Could be argued as a suicide attempt. S1E4, Thomas says he is going to "drown himself in the lake". As he is a ghost it's impossible, and later he is shown just treading water in the lake, no physical damage having been done.
Ignoring the overall context, one character can see/hear people that other people can't. Series one has various jokes around this and people do mistake Alison for being mentally unstable.
In S1E2, Alison has very frequent anxiety attacks. If they trigger you I would suggest skipping the episode completely because you really can’t escape them.
The mild homophobia comes from Fanny in S2E6. It is resolved and she realises her ideology was wrong. Worth avoiding the entire episode if it intensely triggers you, but I was fine.
Some vaguely ableist language mostly directed at a character who is the ghost of a caveman. Folks question his intelligence, criticize his speech, dismiss his ideas/insights, etc.
In S1E4 there is a fat joke. (TW: fat joke) when stressing about the weight in the room that can only safely contain the weight of 15 people, Mike says “he counts as two.”
Some of the ghosts are christian old-timey christians so they do make brief references to their religion but it's not too bad (i have religious ocd and ghosts is my favorite show i actually find it helpful a silly comedy involving the after life with religion sometimes mentioned very nice easy exposure it made me be able to think about religion in a casual way at least in relation to the show which is nice i would recommend trying it)
In s1e3 mike takes off his clothes and runs through the house. In s4e3 he is having a bath with Alison, but they are both covered in bubbles. Mike then runs through the house briefly. Both times Mike was naked, the actor was wearing pants and nothing other than legs/head/midriff were visible.
Nothing graphic. Frequent but vague sex jokes, one ghost talks about having died during a sex scandal, a movie is filmed and the scene leading up to a sex scene is shown, but nothing actually happens on screen.
Two brief instances of blood; S02E02 in a flashback of the plague victims, one man coughs and blood appears in his hand. S02E04, flashback of Thomas's death, we see him shot and he pulls his hand away to reveal blood. Minor, both times.
no nuclear explosion, but in season 2 episode 3, there is a relatively small explosion due to some kind of experimental explosive device sometime in the second half of the episode
