A hilarious workplace comedy about a unique family of employees at a super-sized mega store. From the bright-eyed newbies and the seen-it-all veterans to the clueless summer hires and the in-it-for-life managers, together they hilariously tackle the day-to-day grind of rabid bargain hunters, riot-causing sales and nap-worthy training sessions.
This tv show contains 78 potentially triggering events.
When Dina is pouring her heart out to Amy in the tornado shelter, working her way through all the sorrows she's ever had, she says, "Nobody tells you at six years old that you can't give chocolate to a dog", clearly implying that she accidentally killed a dog when she was six.
A woman mentions a man makes uncomfortable sexual comments about her body then frequently calls her house, a grey area between stalking and sexual harassment.
An employee keeps pretending to have an alcohol problem for attention. Everybody seems to believe her, and they mention it to each other now and then (in a gossipy kind of way, not expressing concern).
Mateo puts a bird in a bag and kills it. No gore is seen, but it's... just, in the episofe where they're catching a crow in the store, don't watch past the point where Garrett realizes he doesn't hate the crow.
E04E05: Garett is wearing a shirt with a pattern that includes snakes.
E05E03: Garett is wearing a tshirt featuring a snake the entire episode, and mentions them in a store announcement.
During season 4 episode 14, Lori the district manager was caught doing cocaine and In season 5 episode 3 Dina has crystal meth to plant on her enemy but no-one actully uses it.
As well as what's already been mentioned, a woman in the first season mentions a man makes uncomfortable comments about her breasts and calls her house, it's dismissed by the narrative as a joke.
The climax of S4E5 includes a C-section and we see the beginning of the cut (with a tiny bit of blood). S5E10 also has a character accidentally badly cut her hand with a knife as a plot point -- it's not very detailed but we see a lot of blood.
Marcus cuts off his thumb. You see the blood, and the thumb. In the end he's fine, and the thumb is reattached.
In a much later episode he tries to cut his thumb off again, but can't make himself do it, so nothing actually happens.
in a wedding sale episode dina says she’ll have to dislocate someone’s arm so that they can fit into their wedding dress but it cuts off, nothing was shown
In S2E17 too many bug-bombs are used and both employees and customers are coughing and struggling to breathe because of the toxic fumes, also two employees suffer eye irritation and nosebleeds because of it.
Kyle the Cloud 9 Cloud is revealed to be a cannibal, but no cannibalism is shown onscreen. Later in the show, someone dresses as him for halloween, complete with blood around his mouth.
Someone slips on a wet floor, falls and hits the floor hard and looks up with blood dripping from her mouth. Right after that, someone says that she might be getting her jaw wired shut.
Kelly and Jonah stage a fake stabbing to get back at Amy for texting Kelly from Jonah's phone. There's a fake knife and a lot of fake blood, and a few characters are genuinely scared, but nobody is actually hurt.
A toddler is misplaced and characters worry that she could've been kidnapped, but she's seen throughout the episode as being safe and happy. They find her near the end of the episode.
Garrett falsely claims that there are bedbugs in the bedding department as part of the collective ploy to drive customers out of the store during the strike.
One of the older characters dies but you don’t see the death on camera, they talk about it Also, you see the dead body of another character (not blood stained or with any visable injury)
Glenn dresses as a clown the cheer up employees in the episode where they find the cargo pants. I don’t remember him wearing clown makeup, he just makes balloon animals and does gimmicks like that.
S6E9 The plot of this episode is that some people believe that Zephra is controlling their minds. There is a lot of discussion about that and some discussion about other conspiracy theories.
Also season 4 episode 5. Glen throws up after seeing Dina in surgery, it's weird, he says "I threw up" and then you see the vomit dipping out from under his mask.Personally, It was triggering for me.
Marcus has been to jail, and discusses it in a few episodes.
In the season 4 finale, Mateo is detained by ICE and taken to a detention facility. In season 5 episode 1, Cheyenne goes to visit him and he discusses the bad conditions. Season 5 episode 2 has a plotline about trying to get him released, which happens at the end of the episode. He wears an ankle monitor for the rest of the season.
There is a hospital scene where Amy, and Dina are giving birth. Amy doesn't have insurance, so she goes to a crappy old hospital with Jonah and they discover a dead body.
Emma gets her first period while at the store and Jonah must help her. She spends this portion of the episode in a bathroom stall, while (unused) pads and tampons are seen on-screen.
In s3e14 an employee (Marcus) attempts to injure himself for insurance reasons. He does not succeed but he does try to slice his thumb off with a meat slicer and to purposely fall off of a ladder.
Mateo experiences a few anxiety attacks when worrying about his secret being discovered. This is particularly prevalent in Employee Appreciation Day (S4E22)
There is use of something akin to "hand over hand" by forcing a foster child to stay attached (physically and emotionally) to his foster parent by having him hold onto his belt and stay close 100% of the time. The child has rage issues (not seen on screen) and Glenn claims this is the "treatment" for it. (You can't cancel out seperation trauma by strapping a child to another adult, child is also not a toddler/is big enough to require space, etc)
idk if this counts as claustrophobia but just in case, Garett locks Glenn up in the haunted garden center after Glenn describes a childhood trauma he had in a haunted house.
There's light cursing, sexual jokes, and occasional obscene hand gestures. Middle fingers and actual swearing are uncommon, and are bleeped/blurred when they happen.
Somewhat insensitive treatment of mental illness and old-age dementia. A magazine photographer follows an employee in a wheelchair all over the store to get an "inspirational" photo of him for the cover.
No serious antisemitism, some very minor antisemitism played for comedic effect. For example, a character who's been shown to be ignorant says "Keep your big nose out of this - and just to be clear, that's not a slur, it's just a phrase."
2 Latina employees are told to give out samples of salsa. 1st refuses, 2nd person accepts work assignment & is given a large sombrero to wear. She uses a fake stereotypic “Mexican” accent when talking to mostly white customers. The 2 women argue later about self-exploitation. when a Filipino employee takes over the assignment, he uses a similar fake “Mexican” accent. When trying to convince him not to use this accent, the 1st employee uses a bad fake east Asian accent. At end, 1st employee who resisted using the fake “Mexican” accent winds up using it.
S1 E3 "Shots and Salsa": Racial stereotypes are displayed, one racist remark made by a white woman.
S2 E2 "Strike": Anti-transgender protestors show up at the store's strike.
A lot of talk about religion, bible passages and prayer and different gods, In one episode Syid prays to Allah in a different episode Glenn prays to different gods
In one of the Valentine’s Day episodes, Amy tries to set up two of her coworkers. The male coworker tells the female cocker that he likes how her shirt fits her.
Multiple instances, most is fade-to-black but the S3 finale has two characters having sex on-screen. There's pixel censorship over their nudity, though.
In season 2 episode 17, the internet troll's mother is shown to have dementia/something similar, including confused behaviour.
It's also sometimes implied that Myrtle has dementia/Alzheimer's, as a joke about her being old.
Characters discuss abortions, and never end up having them. Most characters seem to be pro-choice.
Glenn doesn't believe in contraception or abortions, and this is discussed in a few episodes.
In a few episodes (for humor reasons) they show cars crashing into the store (Glenn) and a car crashing through an image of the parking lot (Because they were hiding like 1000 boxes of Popsicle)
At 10:15, an employee fires a shotgun at the ceiling to disrupt a crowd.
At 16:22, a person in a ski mask jumps on a counter then wields a handgun, pointing it and yelling at people in store. They’re scared. He threatens to kill people.
