The dog doesn’t die on screen but stays with the dead body of its master while the rest of the group keeps marching.
There are also a few dogs on the battlefields.
There is a hunting party chasing a wolf (which looks very much like a dog). The wolf is shown running and a character stops to look at the wolf and lets it go. A minute later we see the bloodied body of the wolf being carried on a pole by the hunting party. We do not see or hear the wolf be attacked or die, and the body is visible very briefly.
In episode 7 a man is in a tent having his leg amputated, you can hear the sawing back and forth, very disturbing, around 6 minutes in, they don't do a close up of the process but they show the leg after they've removed it.
Throughout most of the season gore and blood is very light, I'm currently on episode 7 and will update for the next one but so far this episode is pretty gorey and upsetting. Starting from the medical tent where wounded soldiers are being tended to.
There are also a few dogs on the battlefields.
