If this is referring to the 2010 book by Sharon Draper, it amazes me that anyone is saying no to this question. The book is from the point of view of a child with cerebral palsy who is unable to speak verbally but later learns to speak with a machine. The protagonist’s experiences with internalized ableism and ableism from teachers, classmates, doctors, and even sometimes family are a key point of the book. In particular, the word “retarded” is used several times
