As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
This movie contains 74 potentially triggering events.
Not in a literal DV sense; however, a central theme in this film is how traumatized, abused people go on to seek retribution or try to feel something by harming others.
I am saying yes to be on the safe side. Nothing very explicit or outright cruel happens, but there are lots of dogs that are treated questionably by our societal, timing and place standards. The dogs are shown wearing muzzles while chained up, are sent to chase after people and fight with people, and are seen licking corpses and one dog is seen carrying a detached human foot which could be upsetting to see.
Maggots are seen in 2 scenes. First, Furiosa wakes up and flies are buzzing. The last scene there is a body and the maggots are near the bottom of the leg during the pan out shot
Nothing happens or is implied to happen, but there is a scene where it’s implied that a character intends to do something. There’s a scene where the perv touches her hair, and that’s when you will know it’s coming up. Spoilers of details for more context: He touches her hair and she runs off. Then you see a scene of her cutting her hair and turning it into a wig. Then later she lays down to sleep and he comes in and picks her up and carts her off to another room. He sits her down on a chair and examines her arms and then goes to touch her hair, which she uses this as a way to run off while he grabs her wig off her head. He goes looking for her, throws the wig off the side as he sees other people on the bridge. Then he gives up and leaves. We see him throughout the movie and later on he sees her when she’s older and doesn’t know it’s her and examines her arms, saying she looks familiar. As someone with this trigger it was upsetting and uncomfortable for me personally, but not unbearable and didn’t ruin the experience of the movie. I’m sure others will find it more upsetting or not upsetting at all, but hopefully these details help.
Not explicitly, but there is a harem that is not there by choice and a scene which could lead to assault, but ends in the main character fleeing the situation before anything happens.
furiosa slits someone throat mostly off screen. they are then seen with a massive bleeding wound in their throat gurgling blood. this is shown on screen for a minute or so
Explicitly at the beginning when someone's throat is torn. Brief scenes, once where there's a gas canister thrown into the war rig and once when Furiosa crawls out of dirt.
I was told by a friend who kinda tests movies/tv shows for me in that matter, that we don't see the amputation, but we see Furiosa's severed arm left in cuffs.
Furiosa’s mother is tied to a stake, it is implied she is being tortured somehow but the man is standing in the way of anything graphic being shown. They are trying to get information out of her.
Furiosa is an amputee with a mechanical arm; as Anya Taylor Joy is able-bodied, this was achieved digitally.
Other minor characters, such as Scrotus, the Citadel residents, and some War Boys, have prosthetic makeup on to approximate birth defects, facial differences, and tumors that are implied to result from radiation in the Wasteland and injuries going untreated.
There are also disabled Australian actors in this movie, including Sean Millis, who has Hunter Syndrome, and Quaden Bayles, who has achondroplasia.
Not specifically tiny holes, but could trigger it. There’s a scene where a bunch of maggots are all over her arm and all over the place, in wounds and limbs. Looks very disgusting
Not vomit but at the begining-ish when they bring the child into the camp a character is shown spitting blood after the one eyed character tries to take credit for the child. They ask to bring the person who did and his troat is slit causing the spiting of blood
cannibalism is discussed and implied a lot and a character eats a sausage said to be made out of human blood but there is no point where a character is killed and then eaten directly
no needles are used however a character has a small needle on his belt and is seen a few times throughout the movie (note: this needle is very small, the other people i saw this movie with didn't even see it)
Kinda. Not an attempt because it’s successful. But, it’s also not with the intent of wanting to die. A war boy willingly and knowingly jumps to their death to prove their loyalty
Early on in the movie when Dementus first arrives at the citadel, a warboy jumps to his death. Warboys notoriously sacrifice themselves all the time, so be wary of the chase sequences in the movie.
there is a fixation on having children that aren’t disabled. some of the conditions they fear do seem to be lethal, but there’s uncomfortable in universe undertones imo.
A couple of scenes, Rectus grabs at Furiosa but she gets away before anything happens and Furiosa and Jack share a quick/intimate moment in a bath together but no parts/excessive skin is shown since it zooms out.
