For as long as he can remember, Ichigo Kurosaki has been able to see ghosts. But when he meets Rukia, a Soul Reaper who battles evil spirits known as Hollows, he finds his life is changed forever. Now, with a newfound wealth of spiritual energy, Ichigo discovers his true calling: to protect the living and the dead from evil.
This tv show contains 29 potentially triggering events.
there are a couple of dogs that have become hollows. While i do not remember if it explicitly states how they die the fact that they are hollows is evidence that they have died.
(Manga chapter 631) Bazz-B and Haschwalt's flashback has a part where they're out hunting rabbits, there is a rabbit with an arrow shot through it. The shot in the anime is quite bloody.
Debatable on how you interpret their actions. It's implied Ichigo has to step in as a parent in lieu of his father to comfort his sisters when he was still very young and Isshin never really sought to alleviate Ichigo's (misplaced) sense of guilt over his mother dying until the begining of the story, and in the current timeline Isshin constantly tackles/gets physical with Ichigo, but it's played as a gag, and he clearly loves his son very much. He also withholds vital information from Ichigo until the final arc, more out of narrative convenience for the author than out of any real malice. Ichigo loves his father, and expresses nothing beyond mild frustration at his antics.
Ryuken is extremely cold/condescending to Uryu anytime they are together & often ends up verbally putting him down, be it in flashbacks when he's a child or the current timeline when he's a teenager. It's implied Uryu lives alone because he wants to be away from him. Ruyken gives him an ultimatum in the team advance arc, where he must cut himself off from Shinigami buisness (aka no longer involve himself with his friends) if he wants Ryuken's help to regain his Quincy powers. While training him, he works Uryu to the point of exhaustion and Uryu genuinely thinks he's trying to kill him. The story frames his unkindness as a result of past grief (looses Katagiri and Masaki, the whole Quincy buisness has not been kind to him) and him trying to toughen Uryu up against the world, but his behaviour towards Uryu could be triggering for some also. His autopsy of Katagiri/Uryu's mother as a child is also deeply traumatizing when Uryu walks in on it, and is implied to be a source of contention between the two for years.
Although we never see them, Orihime's parents are also implied to have been abusive.
Yhwach, insofar as he's reffered to/considers himself as 'father of the quincies' is a horrible father. He kills his quincies for mild infractions, absorbs their souls upon death and takes a certain amount of enjoyment at his own 'children's' suffering. He initially intends to kidnap Ichigo, bring him back to the Quincy realm and forcefully assimilate him, he laughs off Lilttoto and Giselle coming after him and kills them with no remorse, has no qualms killing Haschwalt via Auschwahlen despite Haschwalt dedicating his life to him and showing nothing but loyalty to him and makes a point to Uryu that his parting with Ichigo will be 'forever' when Uryu visibly struggles to keep his composure betraying him and taunts him when he asks him why he's alive, knowing full well he's responsible for killing Uryu's mother, and tried to kill Uryu himself as a child.
Haschwalt lives with his uncle, who, although never outright shown, is heavily implied to have sexually abused him in the way he talks to him. The anime only reinforces that theory with how the lines are delivered. Kid!Haschwalt also has bruising on his arm that is likely from abuse.
When Yoruichi initially transforms back into a human, she is naked. It's censored via conveniently placed steam, and is more a means to embarass Ichigo than anything truly exploitative.
There is a brief scene where Nemu is naked (TYBW 3x11), but iI don't believe it's there to sexualise her.
[ep 217] The Espada Charlotte Chuhlhourn wears a short skirt and crop-top and acts like an exaggeration of the stereotypical effeminate man. Yumichika initially laughs at him and doesn't take him seriously. The gag comes back in the TYBW arc when Charlotte comes back as a zombie.
On a more macro scale, the Quincy that have been hunted to near-extinction and genocided by the Shinigami come back in the final arc seeking revenge, and declare war on Soul Society.
Both Ichigo and Uryu's mothers are killed as a result of Yhwach's Auschwahlen. Uryu's grandfather is killed by hollows in front of him and Mayuri further tortures his soul with medical experiments. Orihime's brother dies and turns into a hollow.
[TYBW arc, 3x12] Bazz-B and Haschwalt's flashback actually shows Bazz's mother being killed and his household being slaughtered.
During Ichigo's fight with Nnoitra, Orihime is restrained by a lower arrancar. In the manga, the arrancar shoves his fingers into her mouth to keep her quiet, the anime tones down the scene considerably to him covering her mouth with his hand.
[TYBW] Uryu seemingly betrays Ichigo and the gang when switching to the Quincies' side, and leaves without giving him an explanation or a farewell despite Ichigo screaming at him for answers. Yhwach even tells Uryu that their parting will be "forever".
[ep344] Ginjo tracks down Ichigo's place of work, where he insists on talking to him after Ichigo has previously turned him down, Rirurka also follows him around without him knowing in ep347. The Fullbringers also follow Orihime, Uryu and Chad back to their own homes before attacking them, and cornering Ichigo into coming to them for help.
During the Shūsuke Amagai arc, Kira has his (correct) suspicions bout Kibune constantly questioned by other characters and wonders himself, at times, if he is wrong to be mistrustful
Kaname Tōsen at one point transforms into a giant insectoid creature.
Numerous bugs are seen to cover Byakuya Kuchiki's body in a hallucination during his battle against Sternritter Äs Nodt.
Nnoitra Gilga's resurrección is reminiscent of a praying mantis.
it's been a while so i'm not sure if i remember everything, but there are a few cases of a girl behaving inappropriately toward orihime (played for laughs) and a different girl tears at her clothes/generally behaves in a demeaning and cruel way.
Head captain Yamamoto incinerates Ayon during the Fake Karakura battle. A quincy soldier is burned alive by him as well during the Thousand Year Blood War arc. Szayelaporro Granz at one point gets close to being burned to death by Ishida Uryuu.
There is one character in the series who is missing an arm. In the manga version there's a lot of amputation, but it seems to have mostly been censored in the anime.
not really. a character is both mentally and physically unwell after a traumatic experience and it’s implied her stay with the medical staff is due to both of these things, not just because of the injuries. there are no scenes of her focusing on psychiatric treatment, but she is shown unconscious from wounds and receiving treatment. in a later appearance, she is in a frail state and allowed to leave to speak to someone, but becomes distressed/seems to be clinging to a delusion to cope and is sedated (through magic, iirc) and taken back.
16x03 through 16x12 Uryu is attacked and spends time in hospital recovering. The others come to visit him. Also worth noting, Ichigo's father, Isshin, runs a clinic, and Uryu's father, Ryuken, is a doctor and director of the Karakura hospital, and often appear in a hospital setting
not necessarily. one of the main girls is well endowed and has a slim figure. her friends often poke fun at her for the amount of food she eats and that it goes straight to her boobs. i also believe there are a few references to japanese beauty standards
Uryu sometimes gets called four-eyes because he wears glasses. It's usually not meant truly maliciously when said by his friends though. Some comments also about his high intellect, he is the more academically orientated out of the Karakura gang
Both Orihime and Rangiku tend to be sexualised, via clothing (Orihime's TYBW arc dress comes to mind, Rangiku often has cleavage showing), suggestive actions and through the way they talk. Happens to Yoruichi sometimes (naked when training Ichigo and her cat transformation in the TYBW arc) and Isane in the beach/summer vacation filler episode. Sternritter Candice Catnipp also has a very conveniently revealing crop top + short shorts combo uniform
[TYBW arc] Ryūken's mother "adopts" Masaki into the Ishida family and later has the intention of her marrying her son to preserve the purity of the Ishida bloodline, it's assumed some Quincies practice incest to "preserve" their blood purity and status as Echt Quincies. Masaki and Ryūken are siblings by adoption, and neither of them want to marry eachother/both fall in love with other people (Isshin/Katagiri).
The newer Thousand Year Blood-War arc is considerably more graphic in terms of blood than the original anime.
In s2e1, Bambietta cleaves a lower-ranking Sternritter in half, and in s2e6 Haschwalt executes Cang Du and BG9 via beheading, both are very graphic. The Friend episode has some pretty brutal moments in it also.
