Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes. A survival game that has a whopping 45.6 billion-won prize at stake.
This movie contains 87 potentially triggering events.
I haven't watched it yet, but I think the people voting yes are just trolls. They voted yes on "Does a Dragon Die?" so...
I'll come back and edit this once I watch!
EDIT: NO DOG OR ANY OTHER ANIMAL DIES IN SEASON 2.
It’s not shown but it gets brought up a lot. There is a scene where the main character calls his child, which he abadoned following the events of S1, and doesn’t say anything.
There’s a woman who left her child behind when escaping North Korea, but she’s trying to get the kid back. There’s also a few scenes i think in the 1st or 2nd episode where a little girl is unattended, once she goes in the room of the festival workers and her dad goes after her, the other time she faints and the dad only notices this by the time the ambulance is taking her away, then he gets in the car too
I dont know if i would count any of the people that Are abusers abused ? They Are in difficult life situations and poor. The frontman played the game before. But no mentioned of abuse
multiple times during the show players are restrianed by either eachother or guards but there is also a scene in episode 5 21:10 where a woman gets pinned down for a rape and killing atempt
At 20:59, guard #11 goes into her room and then two male guards follow her. They pin her down on the bed and threaten to SA her, but they don’t, instead they cut her hand a little bit and say some very derogatory things, and then she pushes them away fights them off. They knock her to the floor, but do not SA her, although they threaten to if she continues to get in the way of their plans. It was triggering because of the situation she was in, despite nothing actually happening.
The scene that LAYER013EGO is talking about – there’s a false bottom in that particular cremation area for the players who aren’t fully dead yet. It takes them to the area for the organ harvesting. No one is actually burned alive
(applies to eye damage too) but organ harvesting scene is EP4 and it’s Literally right after InHo talks about his wife with GiHun (the whole entire scene where he fake cries and he apologizes for voting ‘O’)
S2E1 Two men are tied up, gagged, and forced with a gun to play games. This starts around 40:39 and ends around 45:09 when one of them “loses”. This is separate from the actual squid games.
When Gi-hun and some others are trying to attack the people who control the games, some pink soldiers are seen falling off stairs and hallways. Gi-hun is also seen falling down the stairs after taking magazines from the dead soldier's pockets.
If you've seen the first season at all, this is a good comparison. It's less gory that S1, but there is way more violence and blood. Especially in last 2 episodes of S2
YES. Many people talk about their family members dying and losing loved ones. Even the main character. Most people participate in the games because they have no support system.
**SPOILER** Player 246’s back story is centered around joining the game to pay for his daughter’s, who is seen in the first few episodes, cancer treatment. He dies in one of the later episodes.
S2E2 there’s several people who work as mascots and they go to take a break and remove their mascot heads. A child walks into the room and they hurriedly put the heads back on but later one of them walks in out of character and is cussing and the child cries. Not sure if that counts but figured I’d mention it just in case
Whether a character had an affair is briefly questioned in jest but quickly the character says its not possible. Affairs/cheating on a significant other is never a significant focual point in the show
Major jump scare in Episode 1. 10:40. Won’t explain what due to spoilers but get yourself prepared when there’s a knock at the door. Safe to look away about 5-10 seconds later.
The comments about player 299 are about a scene from the reality show and NOT about season 2.
Nobody v* in episodes 1-6.
Episode 7 is not safe.
At minute 4:59, someone on the boat v*.
It announces itself. The man gags in his sleep (starts at 4:39) and then runs to the railing outside. It is only a few seconds until 5:05.
No slurs. There is transphobia against a trans character like someone saying “men are men and women are women” and calling the trans person “unsightly” (at least in the English subtitles)
An old woman asks to her son “is that a man or a woman?” To her son referring to a trans woman. The son then explains how people can transition to another gender if they feel comfortable. This is not meant to be cruel and the old woman understands.
Episode 1, 456 removes the tracker from his body. A knife is taken behind the ear and there is visible blood.
Episode 2, when the girl goes back stage and approaches the bunny mascot. It is revealed that there are self harm marks on her arm. The harm itself is not done on screen.
Episode 6, 146 mentions hanging if the vote fails
Episode 7, impossible to describe without spoiler but someone shoots themselves at 50:09
Yes - many times people have meltdowns on screen. Once a person has a meltdown that causes them to completely freeze up and it results in the death of others
Here’s some timestamps for ones I caught, there may be more minor ones but these are what I noticed immediately:
S2E2: Club lights: 32:59-36:19.
S2E6: Carousel game: 0:25-2:20 , 3:22-5:26 , 8:10-9:19 , 12:53-15:00 , 16:23-18:25. Though I will give a warning that throughout the whole carousel game, when there isn’t flashing lights, there is bright lights. I will also say, unfortunately, a lot of important stuff happens during this game so if you skip it you may want to look for spoilers during that game.
S2E7: Fight scene lights (the most intense flashing imo- same from season 1): 17:22-18:23 , then there’s a flashback to a conversation we didn’t see before. Flashing is back 19:29-21:05. After that, most of the episode includes gunfire flashing but it isn’t that bad.
Hopefully this is helpful to someone!
Transphobia towards a trans woman. Other women are also treated with disdain but not as explicit misogyny as in Season 1. Trans people aren’t less common in South Korea, but fewer of them are out.
The one woman that almost gets raped is sexualized and called pretty and looked at in a predatory manner. Also another man says he will take another man ex and make her his woman after he is killed
I'll come back and edit this once I watch!
