Playing out in real time, Soft & Quiet is a runaway train that follows a single afternoon in the life of a female white supremacist as she indoctrinates a group of alt-right women, and together they set out to harass two mixed-raced Asian sisters.
This movie contains 50 potentially triggering events.
I wouldn't call it "for spectacle" as the brutalization is rightfully portrayed as evil but the whole film is about two Asian American women being brutalized and murdered because of their race.
For the love of everything that's holy, this is the biggest trigger warning I will ever put on anything. I've seen it something like seven hours ago and I'm still dazed and dissociated because of the SA scene. I'm so sorry I can't remember exactly when it happens, but as soon as a carrot is mentioned you just... Skip ahead. Maybe turn the volume all the way down. It's not seen but what you hear is ... well
A woman uses a carrot on another woman and rapes her on screen. However, we do not see penetration, but the movements of the rapist are very harsh and violent. It is very hard to watch.
R word is not used, but various other slurs are (d, f, c, n hard r, and various derogatory terms as well, such as carpet muncher, fairy, pussy, cunt, etc)
Some transphobic rhetoric. While is intended to be misogynistic, and it is, however it is an arguement that may hurt trans people regardless, so it’s worth noting here
There are no black characters, but I do see this question to be a bit more general so it is worth mentioning that the only death(s) in this film are POC.
HOWEVER! Two female characters are being cornered by others in the movie, and are referred to as lesbians (derogatorily), to which one of them replies with “we’re sisters”. Despite this, the derogatory comments about their assumed sexuality is continued.
