Abbott Elementary
TV Show • 2021 • Comedy
ReportIn this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.

One of the main characters, the teacher Jeanine, frequently references her childhood, during which she and her sister were badly neglected. She tends to try to put a positive spin on it.

very mild stuff that is not exactly abuse, but not how a child should be treated. s1 e1 a child is kicked by a teacher (it is not shown, but right after is shown) and the teacher is immediately fired. in multiple episodes, the principal takes a child away from his or her learning or even lunch for personal gain (to help her with her computer, etc.) It is played for jokes and no child is shown in any distress or pain.

the principal ava, consistently hits on/sexualizes gregory and this is played for laughs. not sexual assault but she definitely makes him very uncomfortable with her "flirting" and it can definitely be considered sexual harassment

No, BUT It's a Mother's Day episode and a big deal is made about how two of the teachers, Barbara and Gregory, had their mothers die years ago. So if you're touchy about deceased mother's and/or mothers day, you might want to skip this episode. There are no recent deaths of mothers or gory details or anything like that.

The first episode centers around students in a classroom where the rug that the children love breaks, and their teacher tries to figure out how to get a new one. The children ask the teachers a few questions and are sad about the rug being gone. One more emotional scene relating to the rug later on in the episode.

A little girl vomits toward the middle-end of episode one. You don’t see her vomit. She just says “I threw up” when asked by Quinta Brunson’s character of what’s wrong with her. You do see vomit on her shirt in the scene after.

Idk if Gregory is autistic, but he's very particular about certain things such as only eating a select few foods, not being comfortable with being touched, wanting things to be a certain way, etc. The other teachers and adults in general in the show are not respectful to him about it. Sometimes they're teasing him, other times they're just ignoring his discomfort and forcing him into uncomfortable situations (like laying hands on him for prayer).

it’s filmed as a documentary, and some of the filming is definitely handheld cameras. it’s not bad most of the time but there are a few dizzying moments. not sure why there are all no votes.

The people saying no are definitely trolls or didn't watch as I have watched under 10 episodes and have ran into two episodes with many unpredictable intense flashing sequences (large fluorescent lights flickering and lightning flashbacks through uncovered windows).

no antisemitism. just a heads up about an irreverent use of the word “nazi”, in S2:E13, IF you have the subtitles turned on it lets you know that Melissa is impersonating a character called “The Soup Nazi” (from a Seinfeld episode)
