Your fish friend Small fry can get splatted, and Mr.Grizz is stuck in orbit after the ending, which should eventually kill him via starvation or dehydration.
There are no non-humanly-sentient species in Splatoon that get sad. In fact, practically every character in Splatoon has at least some sort of human-level sentience.
In the singleplayer campaign one of the big things is that there's hairy ink, and in the end (in a cutscene) a lot of it gets shaved. It's not on screen much but it is mentioned. Other than that, all the violence is just exploding into ink and stuff.
in a handful of singleplayer and multiplayer stages, you can "die" by drowning, where your character will struggle for a moment before exploding into ink. this doesn't necessarily count, but the two go hand in hand.
Sea creatures eat sea creatures, but they don't eat Sentient sea creatures. It's more like humans eating cow. So there's little meals you'll get to eat that'll, say, have a crab in it.
Inklings are "splatted" but immediately respawn. The salmonids in Salmon Run are killed, though they enjoy battle and seek out a glorious death. No major characters are shown to be dead; there's a fakeout with one that ends up being fine.
Not within in-game dialogue. However since players can set their name to whatever they like, there is a low chance you may see one in someone's player name. Nintendo is usually good at punishing these users however.
im pretty sure the laughing statues from splatoon 1 were removed (rip) but during splatfest when theres 1 minute left in a battle theres a statue inside a case in umami ruins on one side of the map that starts moving around with glowing eyes, and in flounder heights one of the windows on the apartments in the distance has a reflection on it that looks like a ghost
In the single player you go through decontamination airlock things that blast your character with air, which is a kind of shower, but not a proper shower scene.
In the Side Order DLC, the final boss has an attack where it spits out blobs of ink. After clearing the DLC for the first time, the final boss will also occasionally have a dialogue box pop up where it makes spitting sounds.

The main villain is implied to have gone insane after being awake during thousands of years of cryostasis, but they never behave in an overtly insane manner during the actual story.
The setting in Side Order is a virtual reality, and the lines between said virtual reality and the real world become blurred as characters have their minds/souls sucked into it.
If the player takes damage from a Splattercolor Screen, their screen will darken, the game becomes monochromatic, and a hissing noise plays until the effect wears off. Several users on Twitter have stated that this audio effect makes the game physically painful for them to play.
No, but if you try to order a food/drink with the prior effect still active, the clerk will mention that you have "quite an appetite." She doesn't say it with any malice, but it could be triggering.

The Splattercolor Screen was the worst for this, as it was essentially a flashbang. A later update made it so that the screen darkens and goes monochrome rather than flashing.
You choose your style instead of gender in this game, which the voice lines that your inkling/octoling uses, and how certain titles (in game messages) will be localized in regions with no gender neutral equivalent. (The title Incandescent, for example, displays as Gloeiend or Gloeiende in Dutch, and if you're playing in Dutch you can choose either title). The effects are so minor that many players won't even realize that it does anything, but if you wish you can change it later in the player settings
Some of the characters wear somewhat revealing clothing (like Callie, Shiver, and Frye.) In addition, you can put your character in relatively revealing outfits. However, in this game they're all outfits you can imagine someone wearing for fun. They don't look uncomfortable, and they're not posed in uncomfortable ways.
Possibly? The most recent Splatfest's theme (as of May 2nd, 2024) is about what you'd do at the end of the world, with the options being Same Ol', Bucket List, and Save the World, with some of Frye's lines showing genuine fear over the world actually ending.
It's mentioned in the lore of the single player that humanity wiped themselves out, and so it is implied that nuclear weapons were part of that. We don't see any of it on screen. In addition, at the end of the game if you fail the final boss fight the world does end to that kind of devastating missile based destruction. Finally, there's a special weapon called the ink strikes that are missile-like.
